Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 launched just last week on 16th November. Just five days since the game’s launch it has already surpassed the 25 million player mark. The official Call of Duty account on Twitter thanked players for their support. While many users praised the game, others criticized its many bugs.

Warzone 2.0’s launch was a bumpy one as players faced a buggy friend list, a bug that locked out players that don't own Modern Warfare 2, and more. The developer is working hard to fix the many bugs in the game, including those related to players skipping the downed phase and issues with the Most Wanted contract. Several bugs have already been addressed according to the developer’s Trello board.

While the game's player numbers are high, many have criticized the game for glitches, bugs, laggy servers, and the complicated UI (User Interface). The game has received mostly negative reviews on Steam. Streamers like Dr Disrespect were skeptical about the game’s success back in June. “Is Warzone 2 going to be the savior? I don’t know, man,” he said during a stream in June. He continued, “I just don’t know if Warzone 2 is going to be the big savior. I think there’s going to be a lot of hype. We’ll be playing it, obviously. But in terms of its legs and how far it can run, I don’t think it’ll run as far as let’s say the Verdansk energy.

Warzone’s Twitch success

On the day it launched, Warzone 2’s viewership was at 615,000, almost 100,000 more than its predecessor. According to TwitchTracker, Warzone has 145,703 average views, which accounted for 6.0% of the viewer share.

Despite the player count for the franchise dropping as reported by the developer, the recent Call of Duty releases seem to have breathed life back into the franchise. Earlier this month, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 broke previous sales when it crossed $800 Million USD in sales after just three days. Ten days after its release, it crossed the $1 Billion USD mark in revenue.
