VFX Updates: Nami and Twisted Fate to Sport New Looks in LoL Patch 12.10
Riot Games is introducing many changes in LoL Patch 12.10 including the ones for durability in League of Legends. It is now working on a couple of Visual Effects (VFX) Updates to add that extra flair to the older champions on the League of Legends roster. Older champions have been on the receiving end of similar VFX updates to keep them on par with the new-age champion designs. In the past champions like Varus, Vayne, Sona, Orianna, Leona, and Vel’Koz were given a makeover by Riot to help their abilities look distinct and clear.
Now, Riot has revealed that it is working on Nami and Twisted Fate and is looking forward to listening to feedback from the community after testing the changes on the Public Beta Environment (PBE).
As always it is vital to remember that these VFX updates are smaller ones geared toward sprucing up some of the oldest champions and are not in the same prioritization conversation as to how Riot decides on who gets a Visual and Gameplay Update (VGU). Riot said, “They do not affect any other timeline, and are simply dev passion projects.”
Nami VFX Update
Senior QA Analyst Simon “Zhanos” LeBlanc shared Nami’s VFX update on the League of Legends PBE Subreddit and wrote, “It is now time for Nami’s [changes], targeted for the 12.10 patch! The update is focused on optimization and modernizing her kit. This update is focused on base and matching her older skins with that one, as most of her skins look great already!”
The Nami skins that shall be receiving changes are:
Base skin: Complete overhaul
Koi Nami: Recolor and custom elements from the new base
River Spirit Nami: Recolor and custom elements from the new base
Urf the Nami-tee: Same as the base
Deep Sea Nami: Adjustments mirroring new base
SKT T1 Nami: Adjustments mirroring the new base skin
Program Nami: Minor changes
Notably, the newer skins – Splendid Staff Nami, Cosmic Destiny Nami, and Bewitching Nami – do not have any changes.
VFX Update for Twisted Fate
For the Twisted Fate VFX update, Zhanos wrote, “The update is focused on cleaning, modernizing his kit, and including details from [what] we have seen in other representations of the character across Runeterra. This update includes The Magnificent Twisted Fate, a legacy legendary skin that has received a new set of VFX, pushing the personality for this skin.”
The skins that shall be reworked by Riot are:
Base skin: Complete overhaul
PAX Twisted Fate: Same as base
Jack of Hearts Twisted Fate: Same as base
The Magnificent Twisted Fate: Complete Overhaul
Tango Twisted Fate: Same as base
High Noon Twisted Fate: Complete overhaul
Musketeer Twisted Fate: Same as base
Underworld Twisted Fate: Complete overhaul
Red Card Twisted Fate: Same as base
Cutpurse Twisted Fate: Changes mirroring new base
Blood Moon Twisted Fate: Changes mirroring new base
Pulsefire Twisted Fate: Minor changes mirroring the new base
Odyssey Twisted Fate: Minor changes mirroring the new base
Crime City Twisted Fate: Minor changes mirroring new base
Both the VFX updates are live on the current patch cycle on the PBE and players can test them out and provide feedback to Riot Games on the respective Reddit posts. Since these changes are only listed on the PBE currently, they could very well undergo changes before the official launch of LoL Patch 12.10 on 25th May.
