Highlights
Eight teams will be competing for two slots at the ongoing NA Challengers event.
Two-time Masters winner Sentinels has failed to qualify for 2022's Masters event on both occasions.
Stage One winner The Guard has also failed to make it out of the group stage, which has shocked a lot of fans.

The group stage of the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) North America (NA) Stage 2 Challengers event is now over and eight teams are locked in for the playoffs stage which will commence on 17th June 2022. The biggest shocker at the event was two-time Masters winner Sentinels not being able to qualify for the playoffs. The team has failed to make it to both Masters events this year amidst various internal issues plaguing the team.

Eight teams have qualified for the North America Challengers playoffs

The teams that have made it to the North America Challengers playoffs for Stage 2 are:

  • XSET

  • OpTic Gaming

  • Ghost Gaming

  • FaZe Clan

  • 100 Thieves

  • Evil Geniuses

  • Luminosity Gaming

  • NRG

Sentinels is not the only popular team that failed to make it to the top eight. Stage one champion The Guard also failed to make it to the event as well as Cloud9 which is another fan-favorite team.

Sentinels and The Guard had poor performances but Cloud9 failed to qualify despite having a better map differential and the same record as NRG. With three teams locked in at the same score in the group stage, NRG won its winner-goes-to-playoffs game, which meant Cloud9 would not be heading to the playoffs.

VCT NA Challengers 2 Playoffs: Format

The teams will compete in a double elimination bracket with the top seeds getting a bye in the first round while the bottom two teams will start in the lower bracket. XSET and OpTic Gaming are the top two seeds at the event and both of them have been given a bye in the first round as a result.

FaZe Clan, 100 Thieves, Ghost Gaming and Evil Geniuses will compete on 17th June, where the winners move to the next round and compete against the top seeds. The losing teams will compete against NRG and Luminosity in the lower bracket. The event will conclude on 27th June with the top two teams heading to Masters 2.
