VCT Masters Tokyo: EDG First Chinese Valorant Team to Reach Playoffs on Global Stage
A lot of firsts for the side.
Two teams from China qualified for the VCT 2023 Masters Tokyo, Attacking Soul Esports and EDward Gaming (EDG), the former departed early following consecutive losses in the group stage. Still, the latter continues to move ahead setting multiple records on its way.
On 13th June, EDG defeated NAVI to become the first-ever team from China to win an international Valorant match on LAN. A day later on 14th June, EDG won its second consecutive match, achieving a new historic milestone by becoming the first Chinese team to reach the playoffs of an international Valorant tournament.
EDG's recent win came against T1 who it was facing for the second time in this tournament. The team handed T1 a clean '2-0' defeat to set up a match against Team Liquid in the upper bracket quarterfinals of the playoffs.
