Valorant Agent 17 will not be released in patch 3.09 on 2nd November due to development delays.
Riot Games wants to spend some more time polishing the new agent's kit before releasing him.
The new release date for the agent is 16th November alongside patch 3.10.

Valorant was scheduled to get one of its final major updates of this year in patch 3.09 with a brand-new agent and balance changes. But, it looks like players will have to wait a little longer. Riot Games just revealed that the devs need to make some last-minute changes to the new agent and players will need to wait until patch 3.10. Instead of 2nd November, the new agent will now release around 16th November 2021.

Why is the new agent’s release being delayed?

VALORANT character producer John Goscicki revealed that Episode 3 Act III will release as scheduled with patch 3.09, which is scheduled for release on 2nd November 2021. However, the new agent will not be available because as development progressed the new Agent was not at the “quality bar” that Riot has set for itself. Goscicki stated “we’ve opted to hold the Agent for an additional two weeks, while we work on polishing up those final aspects. Sometimes the last 10% of work really brings together the previous 90% of work.”

He stated on the official website that gameplay clarity and visual cues with the Agent are “not quite there yet” and in a game like Valorant where players have to make decisions within milliseconds, the devs want to ensure that the new agent comes out polished. Despite the delay, the developers will be revealing details about the new agent on 29th November 2021 at 8 AM Pacific Time on its social media pages.

Valorant Agent Agent 17 Details

A developer update from September revealed some information about the new agent. Valorant character producer John Goscicki hinted that the upcoming agent will be mechanically demanding but he did not go into details about abilities or gameplay. He said that the developers “took a step back and thought about different ways to provide another Sentinel to the roster. A Sentinel that focuses on mechanical outplays, with an additional focus of gunplay into the mix for an extra flourish.”

No details about the agent’s abilities have been revealed yet but Riot games has been adding teasers to the game in recent patches. Today’s reveal might finally give players a look into the new agent’s abilities. You can check out the reveal today at 8 AM PT at: https://twitter.com/PlayVALORANT
