Team Deathmatch (TDM) was one of the latest 5v5 game modes that was released in Valorant by Riot Games. It was rolled out officially on 27th July 2023 on Patch 7.0. In this game mode, you and your teammates go up against an enemy team in one of three new maps. Additionally, there are four timed stages and no economy rounds. Every player, upon death, respawns every 1.5 seconds. The first team to pick up 100 kills wins the game mode.
On 30th November, Riot Games posted a cryptic image teaser on Twitter handle, and following this, several leakers and data miners confirmed that it was the teaser for the new TDM map in Valorant.
New TDM Map in Valorant Teased by Riot Games
On 30th November, Riot Games posted what seemed to be a postcard from a new destination which has the phrase, "Boundless Beauty, MAXimum FUN" written on it. The photo was captioned, "Ready for a getaway?"
Players immediately swarmed the comments asking Riot Games "what's cooking?"
Players definitely sensed an Asian vibe from the teaser image with the dragons and the temple-like structures. A couple of boats bearing fruits and vegetables can also be spotted in the teaser.
Following this, reputed leakers VALORANTLeaksEN and ValorLeaks confirmed that the image was a teaser for the fourth Team Deathmatch (TDM) map.
Fans also speculated that this new TDM map could be based in Thailand.
To those of you who do not play Valorant TDM frequently, you must note that there are currently three maps. They are as follows:
DISTRICT: A map with a long sniper alley to one side and a horseshoe-shaped building on the other side that can be used to control mid. It bears elements from Split.
PIAZZA: A map with a relatively open mid overlooked by sniper nests, each nest can be flanked by huts on either side.
KASBAH: An arena-style map with many connections to the middle of the map, which holds most of the resources.
If the leakers are accurate once again, we will have another map joining the TDM lineup.
The lore of Valorant's TDM is also extremely fun and interesting. Maxbot, who is a cleaning robot featured in the Episode 4 WARM UP cinematic, was shot, smashed, teamed up on, then relegated back into a glorified vacuum. Due to the humiliation and resentment he faced, the robot chose to hack Valorant’s teleportal and redirected the agents into his own contraption where they are forced to fight. That is the canonical lore behind the creation of Team Deathmatch.
