Valorant Premier: Players Unhappy With Match Timings
The Valorant Premier is underway with matches having started on 29th April. While numerous players have signed up for the tournament, many are unhappy with Valorant Premier’s match timings, especially for Europe West. Those teams which have signed up for the global open beta and are verified have been sorted into divisions. Each team will have to play up to two matches to climb their divisions over the course of the next few weeks.
Europe Premier players unhappy with timings
Reddit user 33rd_Losre took to the Valorant subreddit to talk about the timings for Premier players on the Europe West server. The player enquired about the queue timings being the only duration where the team would be able to play their matches. In the post they said, “If that is the case why on earth are they so early in the afternoon in EUW, the only people who can get a 5 stack together at 3-4pm on a Monday are students/unemployed. Even the latest start time of 6pm is right when most people are cooking/eating dinner.”
Other users also chimed in echoing Losre’s concerns. One user noted that they enrolled in a different zone to be able to play at a more convenient time. The zone you enroll your team in makes a difference in terms of which servers you can play on and the match schedule.
Another user pointed out that a possible solution is to switch to a Central & Eastern Europe server above the schedule to get different match times. This can be replicated by other players who are concerned about the match timings, since you only get one hour to queue up with your team. However, note that this will affect your latency, so it is a tradeoff. One user suggested keeping the window between 8pm - 10pm while another suggested that Riot “get rid of the time window and limit how many games can be played by one team.”
It was possible to edit your Premier zone during the enrollment phase. You could un-enroll and re-enroll to select a new zone for Valorant Premier. If the team wanted to unenroll in order to change Zones you’d have to first unenroll your team and redo the team enrollment process.
While Riot is trying to optimize the experience as much as possible, the tournament is still in beta. Once Valorant Premier gets launch-ready in August, Riot will have hopefully dealt with these issues.
