Apex Legends' first-ever world championship was a blast with over 600,000 concurrent viewers tuning in to the event.
DarkZero became the world champion and has now secured back-to-back LAN wins in the Apex Legends Global Series.
GMT Esports managed to win the hearts of fans with their composure and positive attitude.

Apex Legends’ first-ever world championship concluded last weekend and the event saw over 600,000 concurrent viewers tune in to the event to witness DarkZero secure first place at the event. Unlike the Stockholm LAN, which took place earlier this year, the world championships featured a live audience and it led to some hilarious moments involving fans and competitors alike. Here are the top five moments from the ALGS Championship.

Casper "Gnaske" Præstensgaard hypes up the crowd

GMT Esports’ Maksym “Max-Strafe” Stadniuk was unable to compete in the event but that did not stop the team from pulling off a 5th place finish with stand-in player Beau "RamBeau" Sheidy. Fans were quick to realize that GMT had an entertaining group of individuals who do not shy away from playing to the crowd and livening up the atmosphere.

In the above clip, we see Gnaske hyping up the crowd when the casters tune in to their comms. The entire arena erupts and cheers for GMT. While the team did not win the championship, the little-known Azerbaijani esports organization won the hearts of countless fans worldwide.

OpTic Gaming’s Dooplex is not a fan of Crypto mains

Ira "dooplex" Shepherd had a lot to get off his chest after the event and it looks like he is not the biggest fan of Crypto. Dooplex, who is a Gibraltar player, has every right to be angry at Crypto mains as the Korean legend’s EMP can make Gibraltar’s bubble disappear into thin air.

Considering how popular Gibraltar is, and how Crypto can hard counter Gibraltar in some situations in endgame zones, it makes sense why Dooplex is reacting this way.

TSM fans cheer for the CEO’s squad

Philip “ImperialHal” Dosen is one of the best in-game leaders in the game and TSM has historically been one of the best teams in Apex Legends. There were hundreds of fans who showed up at the arena to cheer for the team as showcased in the clip below.

Hal looked mentally defeated by the end of the event as he started singing “I Like to eat apples and bananas” on the final day. It has led to some hilarious memes on Twitter but we hope Hal can bounce back and help his team secure an ALGS win next year.

Lifeline gets picked at ALGS finals

Lifeline was one of the best legends in the game at launch but her place in the meta has diminished over time with nerfs to her kit across the seasons. She is one of the weakest legends in the game and it shocked everyone when Takamasa "Meltstera" Kawai decided to use the legend.

You can watch the entire match in the video above as Meltstera pops off and becomes the kill leader at one point. With $2 Million USD on the line, the player chose to pick one of the worst legends in the game and still delivered an insane performance.

Genburten’s dad traveled 30 hours to watch his son become world champion

DarkZero’s Noyan "Genburten" Ozkose was unable to compete in the Stockholm LAN earlier this year because he contracted COVID-19. He was finally able to play in an international Apex Legends LAN and helped his team secure the world championship.

After his win, he gave his father a shout-out and said “he’s a homie” for traveling 30 hours from Australia to watch his son play and become the Apex Legend world champion.
