A release date is not yet available but fans expect it to come out next year to compete with Street Fighter 6.
The game will focus on the father and son showdown between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama.
The game will not be coming to older generation consoles which includes the PS4 and Xbox One and their variants.

After being teased in August, Tekken 8 has been officially confirmed at Sony’s recent State of Play event. Fans got a glimpse of the gameplay in the new trailer. While a lot of fans thought that the trailer is just pre-rendered footage, game director Katsuhiro Harada revealed in an official Sony blog post that the trailer is actually footage rendered in real-time on the PS5 from the game’s story mode.

Which platforms are receiving Tekken 8?

If you are still gaming on a PS4 or Xbox One, there is some bad news for you. The game will not be coming to the older generation consoles and it will be exclusive to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X only when it comes to consoles. PC gamers will also get access to the game but the official system requirements have not been revealed yet.

The Tekken series holds the record for having the longest-running story in a video game. Just as the ending dialogue of Tekken 7 mentioned, this new game will focus on the father and son showdown between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama. The meaning behind the scene in the trailer where both of them go up against each other will be elaborated upon when the game releases.

Also, if you pay attention to the background of the new trailer, you can see dynamic waves and tornadoes, a huge tanker gradually breaking apart, a storm rendering in real-time, and more. These are all battle stage effects to be used in Tekken 8 as confirmed in an official blog post. However, these effects are still a work in progress and the finalized version of these special effects are yet to be seen.

Tekken 8 Release Date

The release date of the upcoming game has not been revealed. However, fans are speculating that with Street Fighter 6 coming out next year, Tekken 8 is likely to have a release date targeting its competitor. Until an official release date is available, players should take all speculations and leaks with a grain of salt.
