Update: Five teams secure LCS 2022 Summer Playoffs spot

At the end of Week 7 of the League Championship Series (LCS), two teams – Evil Geniuses (EG) and 100 Thieves (100T) locked in their spots for the most important playoffs before Worlds. Now, a week later, three other teams have joined them for the playoffs after placing high in the standings. After winning against Cloud9 and FlyQuest in Week 7, Counter Logic Gaming is confirmed for the LCS Summer 2022 playoffs. Meanwhile, Team Liquid and Cloud9 have also made it to the next stage of the split with 10-5 and 8-7 scorelines, respectively.

The race to make it to the 2022 Summer Split playoffs is heating up in the competitive League of Legends scene. Most regions are inching toward the final few weeks of their respective regular seasons and the standings are becoming more clear and distinct with every passing match. Over in the League Championship Series (LCS) in North America (NA), there is a clear distinction between the top teams and the teams at the bottom of the standings. After the conclusion of Week 6 of the Summer Split, two teams have already qualified for the LCS 2022 Summer Playoffs.

LCS 2022 Summer Split standings

The standings of the LCS 2022 Summer Split is all concentrated in the middle with multiple teams in contention for the third and fourth place in the league. At the moment, there is a three-way tie between Cloud9 (C9), Counter Logic Gaming (CLG), and Team Liquid (TL). FlyQuest (FLY) is right behind these teams with just one win lower than them. However, the bottom of the league is the opposite with those teams having very few wins in their pockets. Dignitas, after Week 6, is the 10th place team with only two wins.

The current standings are:

  • Evil Geniuses (EG)

  • 100 Thieves (100T)

  • Cloud9 (C9)

  • Counter Logic Gaming (CLG)

  • Team Liquid (TL)

  • FlyQuest (FLY)

  • Golden Guardians (GG)

  • Team SoloMid (TSM)

  • Immortals (IMT)

  • Dignitas (DIG)

Two teams locked in their LCS 2022 Summer Playoffs spot

The two teams that have already locked in their LCS 2022 Summer Playoffs spot are Evil Geniuses (EG) and 100 Thieves. EG is currently seated at the top of the LCS scoreboard with an 11-2 record and 100T is placed second with 10 wins and three losses. EG has only dropped games to 100T and CLG during the course of the split. Meanwhile, 100T has lost to EG, FLY, and C9. Notably, the teams that took away matches from EG and 100T are all in the running to make it to the LCS 2022 Summer Playoffs, again reinstating the skewed state of the league.

The coming two weeks – Week 7 and Week 8 – will be crucial for the middle-of-the-pack teams. The fates of Team SoloMid (TSM), Immortals (IMT), and Dignitas (DIG) will be sealed in the next one or two games. With five more games at hand for all the teams, they will look to secure as many wins as possible to make it to the LCS 2022 Summer Playoffs, and eventually the LCS 2022 Championship. The top eight teams will have the opportunity to be seeded into the LCS 2022 Summer Playoffs based on their respective standings. Notably, Week 8 of the LCS will be a super week with teams playing on three consecutive days instead of the regular two.
