Esports Charts noted that T1’s League of Legends team is the most popular esports team in 2022.
The team had 112.93 Million total hours watched in 2022.

2022 saw the resurgence of LAN events which gave a massive boost to the esports scene, after the COVID-19 lull that persisted for over two years. Fans were delighted to attend Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends, Dota 2, and even Valorant LAN events this year. Across the different game titles, two elements remained the same: the passion for esports and the competitive drive to be named the best. To sum up this highly competitive esports year, across different game titles, Esports Charts published a top ten ranking of the most-watched esports organizations, reflecting their fame and fan-following. Esports Charts named T1’s League of Legends roster as the most popular team in 2022. Notably, T1 was the runner-up at Worlds 2022 after it lost to DRX in the grand final.

T1 League of Legends team is the most-watched team in 2022

Esports Charts noted that T1’s League of Legends team generated 112.9 Million Hours of watch time in the last tournament season and T1’s matches were followed by an average of more than 675K viewers. Reportedly, the peak viewers mark was reached during the T1 vs DRX grand final of Worlds 2022 and it amounted to more than 5.14 Million viewers. “This is the best indicator among all esports tournaments in 2022,” noted Esports Charts.

Compared to 2021, T1’s ‘Hours Watched’ statistic has reportedly grown by 53% and this is attributed to T1’s popularity and the rise of the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) viewership internationally.

T1 had a stellar 2022 season in the League of Legends esports scene. It began the year with the LCK Spring Split where it went undefeated and won the split comfortably. Following this, T1 represented Korea in the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and came very close to winning the MSI on home soil. However, it lost to the Chinese powerhouse of Royal Never Give Up (RNG) in the final.

Though the second half of the season for T1 in the LCK Summer was filled with ups and downs, the team managed to place second and qualify for Worlds 2022, where it was viewed as the tournament favorite. Even though T1 lost to DRX in the grand final of Worlds 2022, the team looked extremely powerful and played the best-of-five series with poise and resilience, even when the team’s back was up against the wall. Notably, in the LCK Awards 2022, four members of the T1 squad were named as part of the All-LCK 1st Team during the Spring Split.

With the T1 League of Legends roster remaining unchanged as we head into the 2023 season, fans can expect the “veteran + young players” combination to work yet again.
