SuperGaming just unveiled its new studio in Pune, India that shall be dedicated to developing Indus, a made-in-India battle royale.
The studio’s inauguration was graced by guests from Krafton India and also one of Indus’ first investors.
Indus is a battle royale with a focus on Indian culture with a futuristic twist and SuperGaming is all set to launch it later this year.

SuperGaming just opened the doors of its new studio in Pune, India on 8th April. Roby John, CEO and Founder of SuperGaming, stated that the studio would be dedicated to focusing on the development of Indus, a battle royale title that will be available on mobile, consoles, and Windows PC.

John wrote on Twitter, “Indus is our most ambitious game to date. We’ve been growing our skill set to match our vision for the game. We’ve also been hiring extensively for it. So much so that we were running out of space to host all teams comfortably.”

The inauguration of the new Pune studio was graced by Sean Hyunil Sohn, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) India CEO and Krafton’s Head of India Division as well as Anuj Tandon, Krafton’s Head of Investments & Corporate Development (India and the Middle East and North Africa).

Sujit Kunte, one of the first investors in Indus, was also present at the studio’s inauguration.

According to John, the developers working on Indus are a multidisciplinary team focussing on every aspect of the game including art, animation, game design, programming, net code, and quality assurance, among others.

What is Indus?

Indus is an amalgamation of Indian history, culture, and indo-futurism. It is a battle royale game that will be available across multiple platforms like PC, mobile, and console. SuperGaming, earlier in January, confirmed a 2022 release for the game. The Pune-based studio further described Indus as "a made-in-India-for-the-world battle royale” with a focus on Indian culture but with a futuristic twist, catering to a global audience.

While talking about why the game was being released across different platforms, John reasoned, “Simply put, it hasn't been done yet."

In February, the studio even gave a sneak peek into the game’s map: Virlok, a floating island.

The developer team at SuperGaming tested out the game’s first playable version on 25th November 2021 and John said that the team working on Indus was the biggest at SuperGaming and that they have already managed to make a lot of progress. SuperGaming has produced hit games like MaskGun and Silly Royale, which were focused on social and multiplayer interactions.

The inauguration of the new studio indicates that SuperGaming is putting the pedal to the metal in the development of Indus. The game is set to launch later this year and fans can track SuperGaming’s progress on the game via its social media platforms.
