Shroud Unveils His New Open-World Survival Game Titled Project Astrid

Popular Twitch streamer Michael “shroud” Grzesiek officially announced his new game titled Project Astrid for which he is partnering with fellow streamer Chris “Sacriel” Ball. The streamers are joining hands with video game developer Splash Damage to work on Project Astrid which is officially described as an “AAA open-world survival game.” Splash Damage said that Sacriel and shroud have been involved with the project from the very start and that it allowed the developer to leverage the streamers’ experience and knowledge to create a worthy game.

Talking about Project Astrid, shroud stated that they want to build the best survival game ever and believed that it is achievable with “Sacriel’s brain and Splash Damage’s team.”

What is Project Astrid by shroud and Sacriel?

Creative Director of Project Astrid Lance Winter said, “Sacriel and shroud are core members of our development team.” He added that they have also been providing the team with insights into what fans and creators actually want from their gaming experiences. “No one knows this genre better than they do,” he noted. 

As described by shroud and Sacriel, the project is an AAA open-world survival game that will be set in a new, original world. It is being developed on Unreal Engine 5. Winter said that Project Astrid will bring in a sense of tension and drama via the game. He said, “We’ve got the ability to do something really new in survival, build an IP from the ground up, and that’s a one-in-a-million opportunity. Hopefully, this is going to be a one-in-a-million game.”

In the announcement video, shroud gave importance to gunplay in the upcoming game and added that the creators have a refined vision for what to do in the survival genre. He said, “This project means everything to me. Chris and I have refined a vision for what’s next in the survival genre and with Splash Damage we’re setting out to build it.”

Meanwhile, Sacriel opined, “Mike and I have been envisioning a world where we help build the game that streamers and gamers love playing. To be able to execute with a team as esteemed and experienced as Splash Damage is a privilege.” 

Notably, Splash Damage has worked on Halo: Master Chief Collection, Gears of War 4 and 5, and Brink, among many other projects. 

There is no scheduled release date for Project Astrid yet and the game is still in development. We will keep you updated as and when there are further developments on Project Astrid’s status.
