In just less than four weeks after Luminosity Gaming announced its exit from competitive Valorant esports, its roster has been signed by Shopify Rebellion. Head coach Jared “mac” Schneider and manager Connor Larkin are joining Shopify Rebellion along with the roster. The team will debut in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) at the upcoming North America (NA) Last Chance Qualifiers (LCQ) in hopes of making it to Valorant Champions later this year.
The Shopify Rebellion roster will compete in the upcoming NA Last Chance Qualifiers
The Luminosity Gaming roster did not have any success in both the first and second stages of the Valorant Champions Tour 2022. The team did not qualify for either of the Masters events this year. However, the team has performed well enough to earn a spot at the upcoming North America Last Chance Qualifiers which can allow the players to make it to Valorant Champions this year.
The new roster features:
Kaleb “moose” Jayne
Will “dazzle” Loafman
Tanner “TiGG” SPanu
Adam “mada” Pampuch
Brandon “bdog” Michael Sanders
Shopify Rebellion entered Valorant esports with the signing of an all-female roster that came second in both NA Game Changers events this year. Shopify is also entering into a partnership with Riot Games for the competitive esports circuit of 2023 which indicates the organization has long-term plans for competitive Valorant.
When Luminosity Gaming quit Valorant esports, the organization announced that it “remains passionate about esports and that [it] aims to continue for championships in every esports [it] participates in.” While the team has already exited Valorant, it might not be the last time that we hear of the organization with regards to competitive Valorant. The organization is keeping an eye on the Valorant’s esports structure in 2023 and might enter the competitive scene with a new roster in the future.
The North America Last Chance Qualifiers will kick off in August and the winner of the event will head to Valorant Champions 2022 alongside XSET and OpTic Gaming to represent the region. Riot Games has also planned events beyond the Valorant Champions Tour this year and we will see the new Shopify roster compete in regional events that will take place towards the end of the year.
