Velocity Gaming recently signed high value overseas players Doma and ec1s to revamp its Valorant roster for VCL South Asia.
During a personal livestream, SENTINEL explained why Velocity decided to sign these two particular players.
He also handed out a list of all potential players whose names they had received via agents.

Velocity Gaming is the latest team from India to revamp its roster for the upcoming Valorant Challengers League South Asia (VCL SA) with the addition of foreign players, Domagoj "Doma" Fancev and Adam "ec1s" Eccles.

Following the player announcement, Manoj "SENTINEL" Kasyap - Owner of Velocity Gaming, had hosted a fun livestream to connect with the audience and simply answer some of the questions they might have related to the new lineup.

During the course of this session, SENTINEL ended up explaining why the organization had decided to turn towards international players and what made the two signings a perfect fit for the side.

This is why Velocity Gaming signed Doma and ec1s to its Valorant lineup

On paper, Velocity has the strongest Valorant roster for VCL SA, the team is yet to officially play its first match together but just the duo of Doma and ec1s is enough to pitch the team as one of the prime title contenders.

Talking about why Velocity opted to sign overseas players, Sentinel explained that they were in discussion with multiple players and were confident of signing an IGL (in-game leader) because Anuj "Amaterasu" Sharma had felt very sick in December 2022 and January 2023.

"Anuj was very sick, unable to sit and concentrate on gaming. So they obviously needed an IGL," explained Sentinel.

They were presented with an opportunity to sign two imports which Velocity accepted because signing just one international player did not make a lot of sense to the organization.

"Just getting one import is a little difficult because that player would be the odd man out. The only player speaking in English, so it would become a bit odd for that person. So we decided to bring two players," said Sentinel.

For the second player coming into the side, Velocity opted to go for a flexible agent because the team already consisted of a good controller, duelist, and another initiator/controller mix.

Note: The related segment starts from 52:20 onwards.

Sentinel went on to reveal the options that were presented to them which consisted of the following players:

  • Jimmy "Marved" Nguyen

  • Jason "neptune" Tran

  • Rahul "curry" Nemani

  • Pujan "FNS" Mehta

  • Domagoj "Doma" Fancev

  • Adam "ec1s" Eccles

The agent for both Doma and ec1s happened to be the same person and so they ended up becoming the duo that Velocity ended up picking. Of course, a lot of discussions and negotiations took place before a contract was agreed upon by all the parties involved.
