The Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) will return to the Copper Box Arena in London for the next major. The Copper Box Arena and RLCS have a lot of shared history with the Season 5 world championships taking place there. Justin “Jstn” Morales’ scored a zero second equalizer at the grand finals in Season 5, which is considered by many to be the most iconic Rocket League esports moment of all time. The announcement video by Psyonix featured Morales and Garrett “GarrettG” Gordon with Gordon talking about how both of them have some unfinished business.

Rocket League Championship Series 2022 Spring Major Overview

London is called “LANDON” by the Rocket League community because of how popular the city is for the game’s esports. But due to COVID-19, Rocket League shifted to an online-only esports circuit for two years. With the global pandemic slowly coming to an end, the game is moving back to LAN events and fans in the UK will be excited to watch their favorite teams compete in a LAN environment once again.

This season’s RLCS format has been completely revamped with Psyonix scrapping leagues. It is an open-circuit event where teams can qualify via their respective regional standings or via the Majors. Teams will be allowed to make two roster moves per season, and only one transfer may be made without forfeiting any points. Regions that perform the best at Majors are rewarded with auto-qualification spots to the World Championship.

After the Spring Major takes place, eight teams will be finalized for the world championships. Another eight teams will qualify via the Wildcard event which will be decided via a Swiss format. A total of 16 teams will compete in the world championship event which will take place in the USA. The venue of the event is yet to be decided by Psyonix.

The RLCS Spring Major is set to kick off on 29th June with the grand finals scheduled for 3rd July 2022. The World Championship Wildcard event and the World Championships will conclude the 2021-2022 season. The world championships will take place from 26th to 31st July 2022.
