League of Legends Patch 11.17 will include changes that improve the experience of solo queue players by tweaking multiple solo-queue-focused champions.
The patch will include tweaks to Lucian, Akshan, Gangplank, and Amumu as well as a host of nerfs to champions including Viego, Zed, and Irelia.
Patches 11.18 and 11.19 will be focused more on competitive play, according to Riot Games.

While League of Legends is known for balancing its champions based on competitive play, Riot Games wants to make some adjustments to help solo queue players have a better experience in-game. Riot Games Lead Designer, Jeevun “Jag” Sidhu revealed on Twitter that League of Legends’ patch 11.17 will be “light” and since there is no pro play happening currently, the team has decided to change champions like Nami, Evelynn, and Teemo to cater to solo players. Here is a breakdown of some of the changes that are coming to League of Legends patch 11.17.

What to expect from League of Legends patch 11.17

Akshan is one of the champions that will be receiving some tweaks after underperforming in the current patch. Even though he was buffed just a day after release, the new champion has a sub-50% winrate and requires some buffs. Inherently, Akshan is a solid early-game champion whose power drops off in the later stages of a game, but in his current state, the late-game effectiveness drops very harshly. It will be interesting to see how Riot Games approaches the buffs to Akshan in the upcoming patch.

Amumu is also one of the champions being looked at by Riot Games. Developers are planning to make changes to his kit and he might be receiving a second charge of Bandage Toss. In his current state, Amumu needs to land his Q and if he misses, it can be difficult to initiate a fight effectively.

In addition to Akshan and Amumu, Gangplank and Lucian will also receive some adjustments to improve them for solo play. Viego is set to receive some much needed nerfs once again. The goals of the Riot dev team are to:

  • Drain power from Viego’s resets, especially when behind or building as a tank.

  • Reduce the versatility of his AA pattern by hitting AA range and camo radius.

  • Shift him slightly towards crit builds.

According to the game’s official patch schedule, the new changes will go live on 25th August. Fans will have to wait just 10 more days to see what League of Legends’ patch 11.17 has in store for solo queue players. Jag has also confirmed that 11.18 and 11.19 will be more pro-focused.
