The newest League of Legends champion to grace the Summoner’s Rift is Bel'Veth, the Empress of the Void. Her name stems from the city that she devoured when she emerged and this can be seen in the Pinwheel color story written by Jared Rosen that Riot Games published earlier this week. She is a champion who looks truly terrifying and her abilities are just as powerful, and her full ability kit was revealed on 24th May.
Riot wrote in the League of Legends (LoL) Champion Roadmap that this jungler will be someone who is beautiful, inevitable, and foretold. Riot further said, “A new skirmisher for all those jungle players out there. A new Empress to submit to… and you will submit.”
Her ability kit is full of promises for a skirmish-heavy jungle champion just like the company teased her. Upon first glance, players will realize that most of her kit revolves around attack speed. The biggest catch of her kit is her R - Endless Banquet, which allows her to turn into a fearful Void creature and this form notably grants her multiple buffs and stats.
I AM INFINITELY BEYOND YOU, A MIND UNDIVIDED BY WEAKNESS OR MERCY."Bel'Veth, League of Legends
Bel'Veth’s abilities in League of Legends
Passive - Death in Lavender
After using an ability, Bel'Veth’s next two attacks have increased attack speed. Additionally, whenever Bel'veth takes down a large monster or champion she gains permanent bonus attack speed in the form of Lavender stacks. Bel'Veth attacks faster than normal and does not have an attack speed cap. But her attacks and on-hit effects deal reduced damage and she does not gain attack speed on level up.
Q - Void Surge
Bel'Veth dashes in one of four directions, dealing damage to all enemies she passes through and applying on-hit effects. Each direction has its own unique cooldown that scales with attack speed.
W - Above and Below
Bel'Veth slams her tail down, dealing damage, knocking airborne, and slowing enemies hit. Upon hitting an enemy champion, this ability reduces Q - Void Surge’s dash cooldown in the direction of the champion hit.
E - Royal Maelstrom
Bel'Veth channels a storm of slashes around her, gaining damage reduction and increased life steal. Each slash strikes the lowest health enemy within her Maelstrom, dealing more damage the more health they are missing. The amount of slashes scales with her attack speed.
R - Endless Banquet
Passive: Every second attack against the same target deals additional true damage, stacking infinitely. Takedowns against epic monsters and champions leave behind a piece of Void Coral. Epic Monsters from the Void like Rift Herald and Baron Nashor drop special, voidier Void Coral.
Active: Bel'veth consumes a piece of Void Coral and explodes, slowing and dealing true damage to nearby enemies based on their missing health. Upon consuming Void Coral, Bel'Veth temporarily changes into her True Form. Consuming Void Coral left by epic monsters from the Void (Rift Herald and Baron Nashor) grants Bel'Veth her true form for an extended duration and causes minions that die in her presence to be reborn as faithful Voidlings. Voidlings are small minions that will serve Bel'Veth by marching down the lane in which they were spawned.
True Form: When Bel'Veth unleashes her True Form, she gains increased max health, out-of-combat move speed, attack range, and total attack speed. While in her True Form, she also gains the ability to dash through walls with Q - Void Surge.
Inferring from her ability kit
Firstly, Bel'Veth will gain additional attack speed with no limits and most of her abilities get shorter cooldowns with increased attack speed. Her Q, W, and E spells are very straightforward and both Void Surge and Royal Maelstrom scale with her attack speed.
The most interesting part of her kit is her R - Endless Banquet which has a passive, an active, and a true form. The League of Legends community has been joking as to how Riot expects folks to have the kit memorized and how the ability is longer than the entire kits of certain champions in League of Legends.
When is Bel'Veth releasing?
In her official ability rundown on the League of Legends website, Riot Games has stated that Bel'Veth would surface on the Rift with LoL Patch 12.11. It wrote, “Bow before the Empress and become a part of the Lavender Sea in Patch 12.11.” According to the official patch schedule, the next patch is slated for release on 8th June. Before this drops, Riot Games will look to balance out the game since the Durability Update patch is quite expansive.
Additionally, upon release Bel'Veth will also don a new avatar inside the game with a new Battle Boss skin coming her way. It shall be exciting to see how she plays out on the Public Beta Environment (PBE) and eventually on the live servers.
From the sneak peek that Riot Games gave us during the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2022, one can surely expect Bel'Veth to be a “party monster” in League of Legends.
