Here's all we know about this new system in the client so far.

Riot Games is bringing forth new quality of life (QOL) changes to League of Legends in LoL Patch 13.19. Players were already given a glimpse of the new ranked queue penalties and the changes to the ping system. In addition to these, the publisher is going to be rolling out a new 'Display Champion Sound Notification' from the next patch. With this update, players can see on the side bar when champions cast certain global abilities.

The majority of the League of Legends community is excited about this new update and here's all we know about the display champion sound notification setting in the game.

What Is the New Display Champion Sound Notification in League of Legends?

Starting with LoL Patch 13.19, League of Legends players will have access to display champion sound notifications on their screens for global champion abilities. They will appear next to the kill callouts and this feature is currently being tested on the public beta environment (PBE) for the upcoming patch.

A lot of players have commended Riot Games for this addition, pointing out how this feature will really help players with hearing disabilities. Another aspect of this QOL update is that is not only helps people with hearing disabilities, but also others who have a hard time distinguishing the sounds of abilities cast by champions using a different skin.

One Redditor commented, "Good for learning players too, or things like some of Sion's skins that have very different R sounds compared to base that might be hard to hear or recognize."

Another user wrote, "I believe it is the right thing to do. Games should always be designed in a way people hearing impaired can play at the same level. Same goes for color blind design that everything should still function in b&w (Black and white)."

An appreciative player wrote, "Wow, actually a good change. Perhaps they do occasionally cook things over at Riot HQ."

It also helps players who play League of Legends with their sounds turned off or have their in-game volume too low.

Here's how you turn the setting on:

  • Open League of Legends client

  • Create a custom game

  • Go to settings and options

  • Here, choose 'Interface' tab

  • Scroll down till you find the 'Accessibility' heading

  • You will see an option to select 'Display Champion Sound Notification'

  • Select it and close the settings tab.

Notably, LoL Patch 13.19 will be rolled out on 27th September worldwide.
