Riot Games revealed a new look for its logo and also announced the launch of a new press website.
The logo was first seen in the Season 2022 livestream by Riot Games.
The new press website will function as the main source of information and incorporate all there is to know about Riot.

Riot Games revealed its new logo and also launched a new press website on 21st Feb. The new logo will be used in all references and following this Riot has also planned to roll out updates along the same lines throughout 2022 as part of its new brand design system.

Riot’s logo has been changed in the past as well. In 2019, Riot changed its first logo to a more minimalistic one with a white fist and text that we see today, as a way to reflect the changing times.

The new logo was spotted on the Season 2022 livestream as the company detailed all the plans it has for Wild Rift, League of Legends, and their esports.

First rework of Riot Games Logo

Riot’s fist symbol is synonymous with the company. It wrote in a blogpost, “When Marc and Brandon founded Riot 12 years ago they needed a logo to go with the name. It needed to be something uniquely recognizable, something with punch. And thus, the fist was born.

It’s easy to forget what life was like in 2006. iPhones were still a year away from being released and the mobile market was dominated by Blackberries and flip phones. Facebook membership was still limited to college students and Twitter was only a few months old. So when our first art director originally sketched our logo, no one thought about readability for app use or scaling. As technology changed and we began playing in new environments, it became clear that the logo we used for so long and had grown so fond of needed a rework."

There were two major changes that were made to Riot’s logo in 2019. The fist was separated from the word “Riot” and it swapped the fist from being left-handed to right.

New Press Website

According to a report by Upcomer, Riot Games in a press release stated, “As Riot enters its second decade, we felt the timing was right to update and expand the Riot Games visual system to set us up for success long-term. The change to the logo was an output of building a more cohesive visual system including the creation of additional unique assets (like typography) that will help players recognize us more easily where we show up.

It further said that it wanted to retain the original spirit of the fist, whilst making it look a bit more modern, and make it clear that Riot Games persists at its core.

Additionally, Riot’s new media website will function as the main source of information for the press. According to Dot Esports, the website will have pages for each of Riot and Riot Forge’s games and the new platform will incorporate all there is to know about Riot. It will also feature company assets, executive bios, and fact sheets for every game. One needs to create an account and log in to access the content on the media website. After logging in, alerts will be sent when updates are done to the site.

Fans seemed to have noticed the change around 16th Feb and widely discussed it on social media.

It will be interesting to see how the the community reacts to the changes made to Riot’s logo in the coming days.
