The Overwatch development team has decided to decouple the development of PvP and PvE to let players get early access to Overwatch 2.
Closed alpha testing is already underway with the beta testing to start in late April.

Overwatch game director Aaron Keller dropped a major update for players patiently awaiting the arrival of Overwatch 2. The Overwatch 2 development team has decided to separate Overwatch 2’s PvP and PvE experiences so that players can get their hands on PvP content sooner. Meanwhile, the development team will continue to streamline work on PvE. While the closed alpha testing for Overwatch 2 PvP has already kicked off in select regions, the first PvP Beta is set to debut in late April for PC. Players can now register themselves for a chance to take part in a closed beta test. Here is how to sign up for Overwatch 2 beta.

How to register for Overwatch 2 beta test

Players can visit the Overwatch official website and scroll down to see the ‘Join Beta’ button or visit the Overwatch 2 beta link here. Here scroll down till you see the ‘Opt-in for the Beta’ panel and hit the ‘Sign Up Now’ button. The site will auto log you in if you’ve saved your details. Some players may encounter an error saying ‘We couldn’t sign you up. Try again in a bit.’ due to the large number of players trying to opt in. The development team is currently working on fixing this issue. Players will be granted access in phases, and more players will be able to get their hands on the game in the upcoming beta phases.

What to expect during the Overwatch 2 beta test

As for the first beta test, players can expect a brand new hero, new maps, a few reworked heroes and more.

Here are all the features players can expect in the first PvP Overwatch 2 beta.

Game director Aaron Keller also said, “Following that first beta test, we’re planning additional public PvP beta testing later in the year, which will include new features, new maps and yes, new heroes.” Keller also added, “We will also be sharing regular updates about what to expect in this first beta in the weeks leading up until its launch”, so hopefully Overwatch fans won’t have to wait too long for the next update.
