Martin “Magnum” Peňkov’s has received a contract extension at Fnatic until 2024, within four months of joining the organization’s Valorant roster. Magnum made his way to Fnatic earlier this year after a stint with HOMELESS. He put on a great performance against Sentinels at the grand finals of VCT Masters Two Reykjavik but his team fell short against the North American champions. Despite being a player who specializes in support agents like Skye and Cypher, he boasts of an impressive 215.6 average combat score and 138.8 average damage per round. Following his impressive performances at regional and international events, Fnatic decided to make him part of the core roster for the next three years.
Fnatic is already out of contention for Valorant Masters 3
Fnatic is no longer in contention for the Valorant Champions Tour Masters 3 event. The team needed to secure a top two finish to be a part of the upcoming event but it fell short against Team Liquid last week. But hope is not lost for Mangum’s team has Fnatic is still in contention for the Valorant Champions main event.
Fnatic will need to secure enough circuit points or qualify via the Last Chance qualifier. The team has solid chances of being a part of Valorant Champions as it came second in VCT Masters 2, but the team cannot afford any more slip-ups if it wants to become the first-ever Valorant world champions.
Fnatic is currently leading the EMEA region in terms of circuit points but it stands to lose its number one spot to other teams that have qualified to Masters Berlin. Team Liquid is only 100 points behind and if the team manages to secure enough points, it will spell bad news for Fnatic.
However, Fnatic’s team director Colin “CoJo” Johnson has faith in his team. He said on Twitter, “We didn't get the results we wanted in Poland, but that doesn't change the fact that we have the youngest, highest ceiling team in Europe and Magnum is a core piece of that.”
