MAD Lions Confirms Nisqy Signing As Mid-laner For 2022 LEC Summer
The League of Legends off-season between the Spring and Summer splits has been quite eventful. The League of Legends European Championship (LEC) has had its fair share of roster-related news. Teams like MAD Lions and Astralis have already made significant changes to their League of Legends squads. Amidst all these changes, Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer has found himself a team for the 2022 LEC Summer Split. Nisqy will be representing MAD Lions in the upcoming split.
Fnatic has officially released its former starting mid-laner Nisqy and soon after this announcement, MAD Lions followed up with its own posts on social media, welcoming Nisqy.
On 6th May, Fnatic announced on Twitter, “For bringing the energy, for bringing the plays. For bringing us hot-dog gifs. For bringing you. Thank you for everything @Nisqy (btw)”
The organization also posted a farewell video for the mid-laner on Youtube.
MAD Lions confirmed the rumors that have been circulating in the league for almost two weeks now. “Totally unexpected right?? Today we welcome @Nisqy as our new midlaner in the #LEC Team!! Summer Split, here we go 😈 Pending Riot approval*,” it stated on its Twitter handle.
What were the rumors?
In the 2022 Spring split, Fnatic signed Marek “Humanoid” Brázda as its mid-laner and Nisqy ended up exploring buyout options. However, he failed to find a new squad and spent a split without playing competitively.
On 20th April, an Upcomer report stated that the 23-year-old was returning to the LEC and was joining MAD Lions as its starting mid laner. While on Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng’s Trashtalk podcast, Nisqy was asked about why he took to streaming on Twitch again and the rumors of him joining MAD Lions for the Summer. Nisqy stated that they were just rumors and laughed it off. G2 Esport’s jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski also leaked on his stream that Nisqy would be joining MAD Lions.
MAD Lions’ head coach also posted a tweet with a play on the words “Nisqy” and “Nesquick.”
Notably, on 4th May, MAD Lions officially parted ways with its mid-laner Reeker, who just debuted in the LEC this last split. MAD Lions wrote, “Today we say goodbye to @ReekerKaizen. We want to thank you for your work done and wish you the best of luck in your future steps!!”
Reeker is returning to the European regional leagues (ERLs) as he was picked up by Team BDS Academy as its mid-laner.
Nisqy has been playing League of Legends in a professional capacity since 2015 and he has represented teams like Spylce and Cloud9. In the 2021 offseason, Nisqy reportedly reached deep talks with Cloud9 but failed to seal the deal. Now, Nisqy will hope to prove that he is one of the strong mid-laners in the LEC.
