Highlights
LoL Patch 12.7 is all set to shake up the dormant meta in League of Legends.
A total of 14 champions are slated for changes alongside an array of items and one rune.
With this patch, Riot Games hopes to bring new champions into the meta before the start of MSI 2022.

Riot Games has announced that League of Legends (LoL) players should expect to see a change in meta with LoL Patch 12.7, especially so with the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) on the horizon. As we now know, the meta is quite stale with the same champions and picks making the rounds in both Solo Queue and League of Legends esports. Every pro match that one spectates, it is guaranteed that they might see Aphelios and Jinx either get picked on priority or get banned.

Associate Game Designer Tim “Truexy” Jiang posted a list of changes that would be introduced in LoL Patch 12.7 on Twitter. He wrote, “12.7 Patch Preview! I'll be your guide this week (Phlox is occupied finding a vtuber duo.) As we ramp up to MSI, this patch focuses on shaking up the meta's dominant picks and adding some new ones that we haven't seen.

The list contained lists of champion buffs, nerfs, adjustments, and system buffs and nerfs. Riot is also following up on the Rengar rework that was introduced in the last patch and is bringing in some adjustments to his kit.

A total of 14 champions were chosen by Riot to get their kits altered in LoL Patch 12.7. Notably, none of the support champions have made it onto the list this time around.

Nerfs in LoL Patch 12.7

Zeri

The following champions are listed for nerfs in this upcoming patch:

  • Zeri

  • Ryze

  • Lee Sin

  • Jayce

Interestingly, these champions get picked occasionally in pro play and end up having a really strong impact on the outcome of the game.

According to Games of Legends, the pick rates for these champions in the LoL 2022 Spring Split in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC), League of Legends Championship Series (LCS), League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK), and League of Legends Pro League (LPL) are as follows:

  • Zeri: 69.4%

  • Ryze: 66.2%

  • Lee Sin: 73.4%

  • Jayce: 62.9%

Apart from champions, some vital items in the game are also getting their powers snipped. The item nerfs include Fimbulwinter, Galeforce, and Moonstone Renewer, alongside the rune: Time Warp Tonic.

Yasuo

The following champions will receive a buff in LoL Patch 12.7:

  • Gwen

  • Pantheon

  • Yasuo

  • Wukong

  • Yone

  • Neeko

  • Gangplank

  • Kalista

  • Lillia

  • Karthus

Brothers Yasuo and Yone have made it on this list after Patch 12.2 this season. According to U.GG, their win rates in the mid lane are:

  • Yasuo: 48.97%

  • Yone: 48.92%

Following extensive nerfs in LoL Patch 12.5, Gwen has also fallen out of the meta and is currently sitting on a pick rate of 1.3% and has an abysmal win rate of 46.30%.

With these changes in the making, we could potentially see interesting picks at the MSI, where the top team from every region will show their prowess. According to the official patch schedule by Riot Games, LoL Patch 12.7 is set to hit the servers on 13th April.
