As the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2023 tournament concluded, all the regions across the world are gearing up for the big Summer Split, the most-important season before the World Championship in League of Legends. Major regions including North America’s League of Legends Championship Series (LCS), Europe’s League of Legends EMEA [Europe, Middle East, and Africa] Championship (LEC), and Korea’s League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) have all already announced the start dates of their league’s 2023 Summer Split.

A Guide to LCK 2023 Summer Season

The LCK 2023 Summer Season is the second split of the third year of Korea's professional League of Legends league under the partnership model. Ten teams compete in a round-robin group stage from where the top six qualify for the Summer Playoffs.

Format

  • Ten teams participate

  • Double round-robin setup

  • Matches are best-of-three

  • The top six teams qualify for the LCK Summer Playoffs

  • Top two teams receive a bye to the semifinals

  • The winner of the LCK 2023 Summer Playoffs qualifies for Worlds 2023

Schedule for LCK Summer Split

The LCK 2023 Summer Split's regular games are spread over nine weeks with five days of play every week.

The LCK kicks off its Summer Split on 7th June with a best-of-three (BO3) series between KT Rolster (KT) and ⁠⁠Hanwha Life Esports (HLE). In the second matchup of the day, fans will see Dplus Kia (DK) and Liiv Sandbox (LSB) going head-to-head. 

Here are the schedules for the LCK Summer Split. Notably, the times are mentioned in CET and are subject to change according to the official broadcast by Riot Games.

Week 1: 7th to 11th June


Week 2: 14th to 18th June


Week 3: 21st to 25th June


Week 4: 28th June to 2nd July


Week 5: 5th July to 9th July


Week 6: 12th July to 16th July


Week 7: 19th July to 23rd July

Week 8: 26th July to 30th July

Week 9: 2nd August to 6th August

The schedules for Weeks 7-9 will be updated as the tournament progresses.

Following the completion of the regular season of LCK Summer, teams will head on to the Playoffs. Here's how the playoffs will work:

  • The top six teams from the Summer Season (9 Weeks of play) participate

  • Double elimination bracket starting from Round 2

  • 1st and 2nd seed receive a bye to Round 2

  • 3rd to 6th seeds start in Round 1, with the losers being eliminated

  • All matches are best-of-five (BO5)

  • The winner auto qualifies for Worlds 2023
