Karmine Corp Replaces Head Coach YamatoCanon After Disastrous LEC Winter Split
On 5th February, French organization Karmine Corp (KCorp), which just made its debut in the League of Legends EMEA [Europe, Middle East & Africa] Championship (LEC) in the Winter Split 2024, published an announcement about updates to its coaching staff.
In a statement titled "KCorp Coaching Staff in LEC," the organization announced that it convened to talk about how to approach the remainder of its 2024 season. It stated that it analyzed the current situation and decided to make changes to the coaching staff, thus replacing Jakob "YamatoCannon" Mebdi with Rehareha "Reha" Ramanana as the head coach.
KCorp Makes Changes To Its Coaching Staff, Benches YamatoCanon
In its statement, Karmine Corp said that new head coach Reha would be assisted by the staff who were already a part of the team during the Winter Split with specified roles. It said, "This choice results in Yamato being placed on the bench and withdrawing from his duties as Head Coach of the LEC team. To this day, we continue to speak with Yamato and his agent to determine what his future will be and the role he will have within the club."
Karmine Corp also thanked its fans for supporting its League of Legends team through a very tough split. It added that it would continue to do its best to promote the club and win titles, even if it means making complicated decisions.
This decision by Karmine Corp has seemingly confused many League of Legends personalities and coaches. Former Team BDS coach Fabian "GrabbZ" Lohmann criticized the organization by simply tweeting, "ur not french? bye lol."
Likewise, former pro and content creator Christian "IWillDominate" Rivera tweeted, "Crazy that they get a coach to bring up 3 ERL players and have 2 new players join the team and give him 9 games only before firing him. Makes no sense to not see out the coach through Spring."
It should be noted that the LEC Winter 2024 Split is the debut split for Karmine Corp, which previously used to play in the LFL (League of Legends French League). Of the nine games it played in the regular season, the team only managed to win its last two games on 28th and 29th January, against SK Gaming, and Team BDS, respectively.
As a result of placing 10th in the LEC Winter Split standing at the end of three weeks of regular play, KCorp failed to make it to the Winter playoffs. As a result, fans will have to wait until the start of the Spring Season of the LEC to see if this massive change has any effect on its playstyle and mentality.
