Riot Games revealed the mid-scope update for Jax.
The changes are on the smaller side and are mainly focused on making his ultimate ability exciting.

Mid-scope updates in League of Legends are not complete reworks of champions but are smaller-scale adjustments made to the champions’ kits to help improve their pick and win rates. The mid-scope updates are Riot Games’ way of attempting to revive these champions and bring them back into play on Summoner’s Rift. Most of these mini-reworks have been successful in Season 12 and the publisher rolled out many this year. In November, after the pre-season reveal, Riot Games confirmed that Jax and Rell would be receiving the next mid-scope update and on cue, the company has revealed the changes in store for top-lane champion Jax.

The Jax mid-scope update is scheduled to go on the public beta environment (PBE) on 2nd December and will be rolled out on the live servers in the first patch of Season 13. Currently, Riot Games is looking for feedback from players.

What’s changing in Jax’s kit?

Lead Champion Designer August “August” Browning took to Twitter to announce that Jax's update will be on the smaller side. As revealed earlier, Modes Team Design Lead Daniel “Maxw3ll” Emmons, who designed Lillia, Yuumi, Gwen, and K'Sante, took charge of the Jax mid-scope update.

Early on 2nd December, August wrote, “Jax's update is on the smaller side and mainly focused on making his ult[imate] more exciting/interesting to cast. We're also bumping up his AP [ability power] build for burst enthusiasts!

He added that Jax is still being polished and that there may be some visual effects (VFX), special effects (SFX), or animations missing or broken initially on the PBE. Riot Games will roll out a fix for the issues as soon as possible, he noted.

Firstly, Riot has updated all of Jax's ability icons, and his Passive remains unchanged.

Relentless Assualt (Passive): Jax's consecutive basic attacks continuously increase his attack speed.

Q: Leap Strike

AP Ratio: 60% >>> removed

W: Empower

No changes

E: Counter Strike

  • Damage: 55-155 (+50% bonus attack damage [AD]) physical damage >> 55-175+ 4% max health (+100% AP) magic damage

  • Damage bonus per attack dodged: 20% of total damage >> 20% of base damage

R: Grandmaster’s Might

Passive

  • Damage: 100/140/180 (+ 70% AP) >>> 100-150 (+60% AP)

  • Added VFX and SFX when the passive attack is ready

New Active (with new animation and VFX)

Jax swings his lantern around him, dealing 150-350 (+100% AP) magic damage to nearby enemies. If he hits a champion he gains 10-40 (+.1 Bonus AD) armor and magic resist, plus 14-22 (+.1 Bonus AD) per champion hit for the next 8 seconds. During this time the passive damage applies every 2nd attack instead of every 3rd.

The mid-scope update for Jax is scheduled to go live on the servers in LoL Patch 13.1, the first patch of the new season, coming next year.
