Riot Games introduced the much-needed changes to Yoru’s ability kit with Valorant Patch 4.04. Almost all of Yoru’s abilities were tweaked to some degree, making them better than before. The changes finally filled the gaps in his old kit and have now made him a master of deception and trickery. He has not only become a menace to play against but has also become a priority pick in Valorant.

C - Fakeout

Equip an echo that transforms into a mirror image of Yoru when activated. Fire to instantly activate the mirror image and send it forward. Alt fire to place an inactive echo. It can also be used to transform an inactive echo into a mirror image and send it forward. Mirror images explode in a blinding flash when destroyed by enemies.

One of the biggest changes to the duelist is the newly reworked Fakeout. This update releases a clone instead of fake steps. It now sends forward a clone of Yoru in a specific direction. When this clone is shot, it explodes and blinds the enemies in a cone-shaped area. With this, players can clear out corners and also take control of important points across maps.

How to tackle these Yoru clones?

There is no doubt that dealing with these clones can be very frustrating, especially in clutch situations. A player might think they’re shooting down an actual enemy, only to get blinded by the clone. This could happen often if the Yoru player knows how to use this ability at the right times.

Although these clones are fairly overpowered at the moment, players can tackle them fairly simply. Identifying these clones from the real Yoru is not all that difficult. Players need to remember that Yoru’s clones are not affected by flashes and concussions in Valorant. So players can identify these clones at the cost of one utility. If it is the real Yoru, the player will surely get flashed or concussed. But in the case when utilities directed at the figure render zero-damage, then the players are dealing with the fake one.

A Redditor pointed out some of the abilities that can help identify Yoru’s clones.

The following abilities will not work on Yoru’s clone and these can act as indicators:

  • Skye’s Ultimate - Seekers

  • Cypher’s Ultimate - Neural Theft

  • Reyna Empress Form - It will not highlight the clones

  • Kay/O’s signature ability - Zero/Point

  • Sova’s signature ability - Recon Bolt

Also, none of the flashes or vulnerability effects work on Yoru’s clones. Additionally, abilities like Sova’s Own Drone and Skye’s Trailblazer can pass through these clones. The clones can also pass through real players in the game.

Hopefully, with these tips in mind, you can outplay Yoru clones in your games. Remember to think before you shoot next time and use abilities to confirm.
