Hidden Leaf Games officially sunset Fangs to focus on its next title, “Project Soulforge.”
The developers said they felt like couldn't reach their goals with the challenges that they faced with the original version of Fangs.

Fangs officially debuted its gameplay trailer in October 2022 and it promised to be a game-changer in the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) industry. One of the biggest names in MOBA, Steve “Guinsoo” Feak, was one of the pivotal figures in introducing, and spearheading the game.

On 6th December, Fangs' publisher, Hidden Leaf Games, officially said, "As of today, we’re going to officially sunset Fangs to focus on our next title."

The developers also thanked the fans and players for supporting the community thus far.

Fangs Officially Sunset, New Project Announced

Hidden Leaf Games said that the developers are focusing on the next title, “Project Soulforge,” and called it a spiritual successor to Fangs. The publisher said, "It’s difficult to share this news as our team has poured our hearts and soul into the success of Fangs but we didn’t feel like we could reach our goals with the challenges that we faced with the original version of Fangs."

It also noted that during the first month of Fangs' early access launch, many players came and went but Hidden Leaf Games was unable to retain enough players to maintain a healthy playerbase. As a result, the matchmaking quality and queue times were not at an acceptable level.

While the team worked tirelessly to resolve all the issues at launch, the developers ultimately decided to take the game down for an extended period of time to focus on core issues related to the code base and core gameplay of Fangs.

Later on, Hidden Leaf Games' developers realized that the work on Fangs was changing altogether and changing direction. As a result, the publisher has decided to spin it off into a new project called “Project Soulforge.”

Hidden Leaf Games' CEO David Li and president Bao Lam said, "The bones of Fangs still exists within Project Soulforge, but the gameplay has vastly changed in a different direction, focusing more on Build Fantasy and Power Spikes."

Fangs was a 4v4 ever-evolving MOBA that focused on hero-specific strategies. The developer had stated that Fangs would be easy to learn and hard to master, with a low barrier to entry.

What is the Hidden Leaf Games?

Hidden Leaf Games is an international studio led by veteran developers who have worked on big titles including League of Legends, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Valorant, Teamfight Tactics, and many more. Fangs was spearheaded by one of the founders of the MOBA genre: Steve “Guinsoo” Feak.

If you are familiar with League of Legends, you will notice that Steve Feak was the developer who designed the item Guinsoo’s Rageblade. Notably, Dota: Allstars also has an item named after him: Guinsoo's Scythe of Vyse.
