Hellff Reveals Why Amaterasu Replaced ec1s as IGL Against MLT Esports
Is this the right time for Velocity Gaming to try such things?
Velocity Gaming is one of the strongest Valorant teams from South Asia. However, the team has not been able to prove itself so far owing to perplexing lineup adjustments that the organization keeps experimenting with.
The team's decision to swap Debanjan "DEATHMAKER" Das with Anuj "Amaterasu" Sharma during the playoffs of VCL 2023: South Asia Split 1 resulted in the team's early elimination.
Despite the massive setback, the organization decided to drop Domagoj "Doma" Fancev from its playing five against Orangutan in its opening group stage match of the VCL 2023: South Asia Split 2.
Even after all this, Velocity has undergone more changes as revealed by Sagnik "Hellff" Roy during the post-match interview following its victory against MLT Esports.
Hellff explains why Amaterasu replaced ec1s as IGL of Velocity against MLT during VCL 2023 SA Split 2
Velocity started its journey in Split 2 with a 2-0 loss against Orangutan but came back with a sweep against MLT Esports. Despite the results, fans are surprised that a top overseas player like Doma has been excluded from the playing five till now in this league.
To make things more interesting, Hellff dropped a bombshell as he revealed that it was Amaterasu calling the shots for Velocity instead of Adam "ec1s" Eccles. Additionally, the team even switched its primary language of communication within the server from English to Hindi, something that the Brit had to deal with.
While talking about the major changes that Velocity made against MLT, Hellff said, "The difference today was that Anuj (Amaterasu) was the IGL in place of Adam (ec1s). I don't think everybody would know but we were mostly focussing on communicating in Hindi because in English it was getting very chaotic, the words are very long."
Expanding on the drawbacks that the team has faced while communicating in English, Hellff pointed out that it was very difficult to both grasp and communicate what one wanted to say. The emotion behind the calls was not getting conveyed easily to the other person, which they could do with Hindi.
However, when speaking with ec1s the players were still speaking in English, whereas Hindi remained their primary language when talking among themselves.
Hellff also praised Amaterasu for his captaincy which made the Indian players feel more comfortable as they executed some of their earlier plans to gain an upper hand.
However, he denied that the outcome against Orangutan would not have changed even if Amaterasu was the one leading the side in that series, instead of ec1s, as everyone's aim was off during the match.
