Singaporean Valorant player Ian "Chrysania" Chin has been found guilty of boosting by Riot Games.
The player will not be able to compete in official Valorant esports events or associate himself with a team for four months.
The player was formerly a part of Bleed Esports and competed in the Southeast Asia region.

Riot Games revealed that former Bleed Esports Valorant player Ian "Chrysania" Chin has been found guilty of boosting in Valorant. Chrysania was found providing commercial boosting services and will be suspended for four months. Riot clarified that the player planned to use an online marketplace to sell the boosting services and profited while breaking multiple rules set by Valorant.

Riot has had strict rules against boosting and has previously banned pro players for engaging in such matchmaking abuse. Earlier in September, Sophia “Slaze'' Ramirez was suspended for three months from Valorant Game Changers for engaging in such activities.

Why has Chrysania been suspended by Riot Games

Riot Games in its official statement revealed that, “Chrysania participated in creating a commercial boosting service that would facilitate financial arrangements between customers of the boosting service and a group of players in order to boost the MMR of the customers’ account. Chrysania planned to promote the commercial boosting service using a Singapore based selling application that is used to market a range of goods and services across Singapore and Eastern Asia.”

Chrysania’s actions break Section 7 of the terms of service laid out by Valorant which highlights that any activity intended to boost an account’s status or rank may warrant disciplinary measure. Section 7.2.9 of the Valorant Global Competition Policy prohibits MMR (Matchmaking Rating) boosting and players cannot enter a financial arrangement to increase the MMR of a Riot ID.

Chrysania was found guilty by Riot Games and hence will not be able to compete in Valorant events for four months. He will also not be able to join a team until his suspension ends.

What is "boosting" in Valorant?

Here are the four situations that count as boosting in Valorant:

  • A player offering access to their Riot ID, to increase the MMR of the player’s account.

  • A player accessing a Riot ID, to increase the MMR of the account holder.

  • A player entering a financial arrangement with another player to queue together in order to increase the MMR of either player’s account.

  • A player repeatedly queueing with another player that has been identified as an active cheater in Valorant.

Even acquiring services from boosters can lead to suspensions and such behavior is prohibited. Riot Games condemns such actions and players should steer away from offering or acquiring boosting services.
