Fnatic defeats Evil Geniuses in a best-of-five grand final to win the VCT 2023 Masters Tokyo.
With this win, Fnatic has created history by becoming the first-ever two-time back-to-back Valorant champion.
Earlier this year, Fnatic has defeated LOUD in Brazil to win the VCT 2023: LOCK//IN São.

Fnatic has created history on the international Valorant stage following its decisive 3-0 victory over Evil Geniuses at the VCT 2023 Masters Tokyo. They have become the first team ever to be crowned as champions in two back-to-back international tournaments, having lifted the trophy in front of a Brazilian crowd by winning VCT 2023: LOCK//IN São earlier this year.

Yes, the game is still young and has a very short history to celebrate, but Fnatic has already managed to leave its footmark on the international scene with its current set of players.

Here is a quick look at Fnatic's journey through the first international Valorant tournament to take place in Chiba, Japan.

Fnatic sweeps Evil Geniuses to Win the VCT 2023 Masters Tokyo

Fnatic put up a dominant performance right through the VCT 2023 EMEA League which was a precursor to this tournament. They did not lose a single series on their way to the grand final where they eventually lost to Team Liquid.

This resulted in them walking away as the runners-up, but they still managed to directly qualify into the top four of the VCT 2023 Masters Tokyo, due to the EMEA region getting two direct slots in the Playoffs.

Having skipped the Group Stage through which four teams qualified for the Playoffs, the time was well utilized by Fnatic to better prepare themselves for the road ahead.

In its first two appearances, Fnatic dispatched two top Valorant teams, NRG and Paper Rex, without dropping a map. This gave them a huge boost of confidence while sending a clear message out to other teams that they were gunning for another victory.

Having found their rhythm, Fnatic further built on this momentum by sending the hot underdogs, Evil Geniuses down to the lower bracket on the back of a 2-1 victory, only to meet them again in the grand finals.

Odds favored the British organization but support was strong for EG as well, who were busy scripting their own Cinderella story. Unfortunately, their motivating run did not end on a heroic note as they collapsed 3-0 in front of a well-prepared Fnatic.

  • Lotus | Fnatic Map Pick | Fnatic Wins 13-8

  • Split | EG Map Pick | Fnatic Wins 13-11

  • Bind | Fnatic Map Pick | Fnatic Wins 14-12

  • Ascent | EG Map Pick | Did Not Play

  • Haven | Decider Map Pick | Did Not Play

An ecstatic Fnatic erupted in a shout of celebration, walking up to the well-crafted trophy and lifting it high in front of a large gathering of fans and supporters.

The day will be etched in the history books of competitive Valorant with Fnatic becoming the first team ever to win two international Valorant tournaments, VCT 2023: LOCK//IN São and VCT 2023 Masters Tokyo, that too in consecutive appearances.

Fnatic Becomes First Ever Back To Back Valorant Champions

With this tournament coming to a close, the goals will now slowly shift towards the final Valorant event of the year, Valorant Champions 2023, scheduled to take place from 6th to 26th August.

They say third time's the charm, so will Fnatic be able to extend its championship run and convert their brace into a hat trick?
