Overwatch Season 2 is set to release on 6th December and it will bring tons of new content with it. The Christmas and Lunar New Year events from Overwatch 1 are set to return alongside new skins, a new map, a new hero, and more. Players will need to progress through the brand-new battle pass or purchase the premium version of the pass to unlock the new hero Ramattra. A new Battle For Olympus mode is also coming in January 2023 and it will be Overwatch 2’s first new limited time game mode.

Balance Changes

Metrics and player feedback have both shown Sojourn dominating the highest tiers of Competitive ranks while remaining a challenge for players without the same mechanical skills. To address the high-skill feedback, Blizzard Entertainment will be nerfing the hero and there are buffs in store for Doomfist, Mercy, Kiriko, Ana, Bastion and more. All of the new changes will go live on 6th December.

Map Rotation

With a new season comes a new map pool. Along with a brand-new map ‘Shambali Monastery’, players can anticipate the return of fan-favorite maps, Rialto and Blizzard World. Oasis and Nepal will also be reworked to feature different themes while Gibraltar and Hollywood will be moving out of the rotation.

Battle For Olympus

The new season pass features Greek-themed cosmetics and there will also be a new limited time game mode called ‘Battle for Olympus.’  This new game mode will start on 5th January and last until 19th January.

Battle Pass

The new battle pass will be available to purchase or players can focus on unlocking the free rewards. There will be no changes to the hero unlock system from Season 1 so you will need to grind until level 55 of the pass if you want to unlock Ramattra for free in Season 2.

Catch-Up Hero Challenges

Players who missed out on unlocking Kiriko in Season 1, or brand-new players starting in Season 2, can unlock new heroes by selecting the Challenge for the hero they want to unlock, which sends you into the Practice Range to learn their abilities, and ultimately challenges you to win games of Overwatch. For those wanting to skip the Challenges, you have the option to unlock these new heroes directly through the in-game shop.
