Dr Disrespect revealed information about his upcoming game "Project Moon" which will enter early access via a founder's pass program.
The founder's program involves non-fungible tokens which will be given to 10,000 randomly selected supporters who sign up.
Project Moon's Access Pass holders are granted the ability to mint a tradable VisorCortex ID.

Herschel "Guy" Beahm IV, popularly known as Dr Disrespect revealed the details for an upcoming game that is being created by his company Midnight Society. He first revealed his plans to create a “vertical battle royale” back in 2021 and eventually created a company to make his vision a reality. Dubbed “Project Moon”, the upcoming game will have a Founder’s Pass system to reward players who support the project during its early days.

Project Moon Founder’s Pass Overview

The upcoming game will feature a Founder’s Pass which also involves non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Dr Disrespect’s community raised concerns over the use of NFTs in video games but he promised that the NFTs will not lead to any “pay-to-win” mechanics. He said in a recent livestream, “Listen, in regards to NFTs you don’t have to have NFTs to play the game. It doesn’t change your experience of the game once it releases and it will continue to be free-to-play. You can’t buy your way to win.”

He added that the project will not be a “cash grab” but despite his words, it is natural for gamers to be concerned about the use of NFTs in gaming projects. Midnight Society put out a detailed blog post explaining how the Founder’s Pass NFT works.

The first series of Founder’s Passes, known as Founders Access, is limited to a select group of 10,000 community members. Anyone who holds an Access Pass becomes known as a Variant. If you purchase the Founder’s Pass, here’s what you get access to:

Early Access

The ability to download early game builds, long before the game is ‘playable’ in the traditional sense. This is common practice for a lot of games these days with developers releasing titles in an unfinished state with incentives for players who support their projects at an early stage.

Voting Rights

Players will get to vote and influence design decisions and feature prioritization whenever it is brought up to the community. Being a member will help “guide the direction and focus of development and ultimately shape the early playable state of the game.”

Unique VisorCortex Design

Access Pass holders are granted the ability to mint a tradable VisorCortex ID. This is a custom visor design displayed on your Variant helmet and is unique to you. All 10,000 VisorCortexes are unique and procedurally generated with traits of different rarities.

In addition to these features, founder’s pass owners will also be a part of a “guest list” to participate in conventions and meet-ups, receive exclusive gear drops, and an “industry pass” which grants founders access to special “development privileges” which have not been detailed clearly yet.
