After years of anticipation, fans finally got the first official glimpse of Street Fighter 6. Capcom just released a new trailer showing off iconic character Ryu going up against newcomer Luke. The publisher will be releasing more information in “Summer 2022.” Today’s announcement coincides with the 35th anniversary of the Street Fighter franchise. The official website for Street Fighter 6 also went live, but there is no information on it yet. The homepage of the website reads “more news Summer 2022” which likely hints at an E3 2022 showcase.
When will more information about Street Fighter 6 be available?
Capcom has a history of revealing its games at the annual E3 tech and gaming events and 2022 might be no different. Last year’s E3 was conducted in mid-June and we can expect this year’s event to take place around the same time. It has already been confirmed by the event organizers that 2022’s E3 will be a digital event as the world continues to battle against the ongoing pandemic. If you were hoping for a live in-person demo of Street Fighter 6 at E3, that is out of the picture for now.
Street Fighter 5 is not the only game that Capcom announced for the fighting game community (FGC). The publisher also announced the Capcom Fighting Collection which is an anthology of ten classic fighting games which include:
Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors
Night Warriors: Darkstalkers’ Revenge
Vampire Hunter 2: Darkstalkers’ Revenge
Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire
Vampire Savior 2: The Lord of Vampire
Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition
Red Earth
Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix (Pocket Fighter)
Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
The new bundle will be available to players on PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch starting 24th June 2022.
When will Street Fighter 6 release?
Capcom has not revealed the release date for Street Fighter 6 just yet. With more official information expected in “Summer 2022”, the publisher might reveal the release date for the highly anticipated game at that time. Mortal Kombat 12 is set to release in April 2023 and with there being no news of Tekken 8, it is likely that Capcom will target a competitive release date to cater to the fighting game community.
