Call of Duty: New Warzone Experience to Release in 2022, Confirms Activision
Activision is currently working on two big Call of Duty initiatives for 2022, as per the announcement made by the company on 11th Feb. In a , Activision gave the community insights into the new updates, fixes, and the future vision for the game. The developers are prioritizing “Quality of Life” changes and bug fixes in Warzone.
Activision also revealed that the development of the initiatives will be led by Infinity Ward, the studio that made Modern Warfare, Infinite Warfare, Ghosts, and other Call of Duty titles.
The launch of Season Two of Call of Duty®: Vanguard and Warzone will mark the next step in our ongoing commitment to improving your gameplay experience. This past week, we shared plenty of new content coming this season. However, that all is secondary to our main priority: providing the community with a positive and fun gameplay experience."Call of Duty
What’s on the 2022 roadmap
The company gave the fans a sneak peek into what is on the horizon for Call of Duty in 2022. The team has announced that it was excited to confirm some major initiatives.
One of the two initiatives is a sequel to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the other is a “new Warzone experience,” both of which are “designed together from the ground-up,” read the blogpost.
However, it is not very clear if the new “Warzone experience” is a sequel to the game or if it is just a major update like in the case of Fortnite. Despite the ambiguity, Activision is promising some big things.
While addressing the future plans for the game, Activision announced the following:
Expect a massive evolution of Battle Royale with an all-new playspace and a new sandbox mode
A new engine powers both the new Call of Duty game release and Warzone
Development on both the new Call of Duty and the Warzone experience is being led by Infinity Ward
Changes to Warzone in Season 2
Activision announced changes on how it will improve the current Warzone experience, which has been the subject of criticism due to bugs, exploits, and the prevalence of cheaters. The company announced that it was making over 30 improvements ahead of Warzone’s Season Two, which went live on 14th Feb, to allow the game to be more accessible and less frustrating for the community.
Some of the changes included:
Improvements in all forms of movement
Gas mask animation no longer interrupts operators who aim down sights
When inserting armor plates, it refills a full plate of armor before filling damaged ones
Fixed performance and streaming issues, including Buy Station freezes, voice chat connectivity, and distorted graphics, across all platforms
Fixed a bug where specific operator skins were invisible at certain distances
“Ultimately, we want to focus on what makes Warzone enjoyable to our community: where gameplay comes first, and new features aren’t implemented at the cost of stability. Another priority is community communication. This debrief, our blogs, Raven Software’s Patch Notes, and the work of our dedicated social media and community management teams are all part of keeping you, the player, informed of what is happening in Warzone, Vanguard, and other Call of Duty games,” further read the blogpost.
Release dates for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2022 or the new Warzone experience have not been confirmed yet, but fans can expect to see further announcements in the coming months.
