It is becoming apparent that Activision is gearing up for the release of its next Call of Duty (COD) installment called Call of Duty 2023. Last year the community saw the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 alongside the sequel to Warzone and the roadmap for 2023 for the franchise seems to be interesting. At the start of the year in February, many leaks suggested that Call of Duty 2023 shall be a complete game instead of just being a premium DLC. Now, a new Call of Duty 2023 leak has revealed the title of the game along with other details about the release dates along with crucial information about the next Warzone map.
According to Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming and reliable sources, Call of Duty 2023 is in development by Sledgehammer Games as reported by Jason Schreier. However, other Call of Duty studios will aid in its development.
Here’s all we know about this latest Call of Duty title so far.
Call of Duty 2023: Official Title and Other Important Dates to Remember
Rumors and leaks have suggested that this upcoming Call of Duty title will most likely be an extension of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming revealed that multiple sources confirmed that this year’s COD title will officially be called Modern Warfare 3.
The report said, “It’s been widely reported that Call of Duty 2023 was a ‘premium DLC’ for Modern Warfare 2, and although that was the case at one time, this year’s title is a fully-fledged sequel to Modern Warfare 2. Modern Warfare 3 will feature campaign, multiplayer, zombies, and a new Warzone 2 map during the title’s first season.”
According to Tom Henderson, the following are the dates to look out for in 2023 for Modern Warfare 3:

Beta weekend 2 (PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S/PC): 12th to 16th October
Campaign Early Access (PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S/PC): 2nd November
Full Release (PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S/PC): 10th November
Season 1 Launch along with new Warzone map: 5th December
New Warzone Map Confirmation: Las Almas
Henderson reported that Las Almas, the map from Modern Warfare 2’s campaign, will be Modern Warfare 3’s new battle royale map. It is expected to launch at the start of Season 1 on 5th December. However, it is not clear if Modern Warfare 3 will stick with the Warzone 2 template or if it will launch as Warzone 3 for the battle royale.
Additionally, the Insider Gaming report noted that sources claimed the return of zombies in Call of Duty and this mode will essentially be Outbreak 2.0.
