Atlanta FaZe Defeats Toronto Ultra to Become Call of Duty League 2021 Champions
After falling short at the 2020 Call of Duty League (CDL) finals, Atlanta FaZe have returned to its winning ways this year. The team beat Toronto Ultra to become the Call of Duty League 2021 champions and is taking home $1.2 Million in prize money. Both Atlanta FaZe and Toronto Ultra headed into the event with no maps dropped in their previous two matches, both looking like potential winners, but FaZe managed to pull through with a hard fought 5-3 victory.

Atlanta FaZe had a rough start to the season with the team losing to Minnesota and Seattle in the Stage 5 Major. Many predicted that Toronto would become the CDL 2021 champions but Atlanta FaZe put on an emphatic performance and took home the victory.
Toronto took home the first map with a 250-175 victory on Moscow and started building up pressure on FaZe. However, FaZe responded with a hard-fought 6-5 victory on Express (Search and Destroy). The team continued to build momentum with a clean 3-0 victory on Hardpoint and a 250-78 victory on Hardpoint Raid. But Toronto Ultra was not looking to give up that easily despite trailing 1-3.
Toronto Ultra managed to secure a 6-2 victory on Miami and FaZe responded with a 3-2 victory on Garrison. With FaZe just one map win away from a victory, Toronto managed to stay in the competition with a 6-5 victory on Raid (Search and Destroy), but the team succumbed on the eighth map, where FaZe took home a 250-147 victory on Apocalypse.
Atlanta FaZe finished the grand finals with a 5-3 scoreline and became the CDL 2021 world champions. The team took home $1.2 Million USD in prize money and bragging rights.
This is Atlanta FaZe’s first-ever world championship. FaZe member, Tyler “aBeZy” Pharris took home CDL Playoffs MVP award while his teammate Chris “Simp” Lehr was awarded the regular season MVP.
