Leaks about the upcoming Season 16 indicate that Apex Legends is getting a new burst fire weapon. Apex Legends YouTuber Thordan Smash said in a tweet that the Nemesis AR will be coming in Season 16.

The Nemesis AR burst fire weapon was first leaked by Respawn Entertainment in the trailer of the Evolution Collection Event back in September 2021.

The Nemesis AR was first teased in September 2021 for Apex.

Thordan followed up the tweet with a picture of the weapon:

The leaked Nemesis AR will feature a unique mechanic

The Nemesis AR is set to be an energy weapon with two fire modes. However, unlike other weapons in the game where you can switch between automatic fire and single rounds, the Nemesis features a unique charge mechanic. The weapon fires rounds in bursts of four. Firing the weapon will charge a bar (displayed above the weapon in the HUD). Once fully charged, the Nemesis AR can be used as an automatic fire weapon with a high fire rate.

The charge bar decay also seems slow. However, note that the weapon stats including fire rate, magazine size, and charge rate are all subject to change. Respawn is yet to officially confirm the release of the Nemesis AR, so a lot can change in the development process and timeline.

The Nemesis AR will be the sixth energy weapon to be added to the game. The Volt SMG was the last energy weapon to come to Apex Legends back in Season 6 along with Rampart. Apex Legends fans have anticipated the addition of a new weapon for quite some time now. The last weapon to join Apex’s arsenal was the C.A.R SMG way back in Season 11. According to the Apex Legends battle pass, Season 16 is expected to drop on 14 February 2023. Fans are expecting a number of changes in the new season including balance changes to Legends themselves which were conspicuously missing from the patch notes for Season 15.
