A new video in the ‘Stories From The Outlands’ by Respawn Entertainment just dropped revealing Catalyst as the newest legend in Apex Legends. Catalyst will be arriving in Apex Legends alongside a brand-new map, a new gifting feature, and more with the Eclipse update. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming legend.
Catalyst’s backstory revealed in ‘Last Hope’
The new ‘Last Hope’ showcases Catalyst talking about her challenges when transitioning and the sacrifices her loved ones made for her along the way. Catalyst’s real name is Tressa Smith and the legend is described officially as an "experienced terraformer and defensive conjurer who uses her remarkable control of ferrofluid to manipulate the battlefield.”
We are also introduced to Tressa’s friend Margo who tries to sabotage Hammond Robotics. Margo and Tressa try to sneak into a Hammond Robotics camp but they get caught. Margo is caught in an explosion and Tressa reveals that she does not really know what happened to her. There is a possibility that Margo is still alive but fans will have to wait until more information is revealed.
Catalyst is the second transgender legend in Apex Legends. The first is Bloodhound who was introduced back in Season Zero. However, she is the first transgender woman to become part of the Apex Legends roster. Respawn worked with non-profit organization GLAAD and trans employees to ensure Catalyst respectfully represents the trans community.
Catalyst is voiced by Meli Grant and players will be able to try out the new legend on 1st November when she arrives alongside the brand-new Divided Moon map. Her abilities have not been officially detailed but there are leaks floating around revealing that she is a defensive character capable of fortifying buildings and structures.
