Apex Legends is a battle royale game at heart but there is a limit to how long a sane person can hot drop in Capital City and return to the lobby in seconds. When Arenas were introduced to the game, players had a game mode to have fun in and it is a solid mode where players can warm up in as well. But the game mode has its flaws and a game that is inherently designed for a battle royale does not really support a 3v3 format all that well. It looks like Respawn Entertainment is planning to remove Arenas altogether.
Why Respawn might remove Arenas from Apex Legends
The balancing has been an issue for several seasons with Hammerpoint Rounds and some close range-weapons being too strong. While Respawn has made balance changes over the months, the mode has not inherently changed much and there is a lack of new content.
One of the biggest problems is the ranked mode, which has a broken matchmaking system and climbing the ladder can be frustrating. There is a disparity between mouse-and-keyboard and controller inputs. With most players at the highest level being controller players, the issues of Apex Legends’ balancing come to light.
There are leaks suggesting that the Arenas mode will be replaced by something new but we do not know if Respawn has plans to introduce a new game mode. Gun Run and Control are two popular game modes that receive a lot of love and Respawn might make one of the two modes permanent in Apex Legends.
Arenas is expected to be removed in Season 16 and if you enjoy the game mode, then this might be very disappointing news for you. There are a lot of players who exclusively play Arenas and it is the best game mode to complete all of your seasonal challenges.
If the game mode is taken out of Apex Legends, Arenas fans deserve to have a different game mode to substitute it. Apex Legends Mobile currently has many more game modes and a much better Firing Range for warming up and it would be great if some of its features would make it to the PC and console version of the game.
