League of Legends Worlds 2022 is making its way to different cities in North America and will host 24 teams from across the world

Regions across the globe are gearing up for the conclusion of the Summer Split as teams lock in their Worlds 2022 slots.
Currently, the only team to have secured a Worlds 2022 slot is G2 Esports from the LEC and the European league will send three more teams.
A total of 24 teams will participate in Worlds 2022 in two stages: Play-ins and Main Event

The League of Legends World Championship or Worlds 2022 is one of the most exciting tournaments to watch as the top teams from each region across the world battle it out to become the champion. Worlds 2022 is just right around the corner and regions across the globe are winding up their respective summer splits to decide which teams will be making it to the most competitive esports tournament in the League of Legends scene. The winning team gets to lift the trophy, take home the prize money, and of course, get custom skins made for all the players. Worlds 2022 is scheduled to take place in North America this year and the League Championship Series (LCS) will be hosting the event. Fans are thrilled about the tournament since they will be allowed to attend all the stages of Worlds after two years of COVID-19 restrictions.


League of Legends Worlds 2022 seeding

A total of 24 teams from across the globe will participate in the international tournament and Riot Games informed that the League of Legends Continental League (LCL) will not be sending a representative this year.

The following is the official seeding for each region at Worlds 2022:

  • China ( League of Legends Pro League - LPL) - 4 teams

  • Korea (League of Legends Champions Korea - LCK) - 4 teams

  • Europe (LEC) - 4 teams

  • North America (League of Legends Championship Series LCS) - 3 teams

  • Southeast Asia (Pacific Championship Series - PCS) - 2 teams

  • Vietnam (Vietnam Championship Series - VCS) - 2 teams

  • Brazil (Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends - CBLOL) - 1 team

  • Japan (League of Legends Japan League - LJL) - 1 team

  • Latin America (The Liga Latinoamérica - LLA) - 1 team

  • Oceania (League of Legends Circuit Oceania - LCO) -1 team

  • Turkey (Turkish Championship League - TCL) - 1 team


Teams qualified for Worlds 2022

LEC (Europe)

Riot Games announced that the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) will receive four seeds at Worlds 2022, and will be the only region to have two teams play in the Play-In stage. The European league has been performing really well at international events and because Korea and China already have four seeds each, this spot went to Europe.

The first team from Europe has locked in its playoffs spot: G2 Esports. G2 Esports is also the first team across all regions to make it to Worlds 2022 already.

After the conclusion of the first Upper Bracket match against MAD Lions in the LEC Summer Playoffs 2022, Rogue has booked itself a ticket to Worlds 2022. Following G2's win against Misfits Gaming in the Upper Bracket of the playoffs, MAD Lions has secured a ticket to Worlds 2022. After eliminating Misfits Gaming from the playoffs on 2nd September, Fnatic has also punched its tickets to Worlds 2022.

LPL (China)

The Chinese league has not determined its four representatives for Worlds yet. The LPL will also follow the same system as the LCK to determine its four Worlds team – one directly seeded after winning the summer split, the second determined via Championship Points, and the third and fourth through the Regional Finals.

  • JD Gaming (JDG)

  • EDward Gaming (EDG)

  • Royal Never Give Up (RNG)


LCK (Korea)

The LCK’s summer playoff is set to begin on 17th August. The winner of the Summer Playoffs will auto qualify and the second seed for Worlds will be the team with the most Championship Points this season. The last two spots will be decided through LCK 2022 Regional Finals. After the conclusion of the second round of playoffs in the LCK, two teams have secured their Worlds 2022 slots. Likewise, after the first round of the LCK 2022 Regional Finals, Damwon Kia (DK) has locked in as the third seed from Korea for Worlds. The Regional Finals concluded on 3rd September and DRX took down Liiv Sandbox to make it to North America for the World Championship.

The four teams from LCK who will make to Worlds 2022 are:

  • Gen.G (GEN)

  • T1

  • Damwon Kia (DK)

  • DRX


LCS (North America)

The three top teams from the LCS 2022 Championship will make it to Worlds 2022. The top two will directly enter the Main Event whereas the third seed will be placed in the Play-Ins. The LCS Championship is scheduled to kick off on 20th August with its finals happening on 11th September. The first team to qualify from NA is 100 Thieves after its Upper Bracket win against Team Liquid in the LCS Championship.

The teams are:

  • 100 Thieves (100T)

  • Cloud9 (C9)

  • Evil Geniuses (EG)


Likewise, the LCO, LJL, PCS, VCS, LLA, TCL, and the CBLOL have also not finalized their representatives. The article will be updated with the list of teams that qualify from these regions after the conclusion of the respective summer playoffs.

The winner of the regional final in LLA who made it to Worlds is Isurus. Likewise, from the VCS, Saigon Buffalo has qualified for Worlds. Notably, Saigon also made it to the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) this year and upset G2 Esports. The last seed to qualify from the VCS is GAM Esports.

From the PCS, the first team to qualify for Worlds is CTBC Flying Oyster. Following CTBC from the PCS is Beyond Gaming.

From the TCS, Istanbul Wildcats qualified as the final team for Worlds 2022.

Worlds 2022 is set to begin on 29th September with the Play-ins set to be held in Mexico City.
