Ukrainian esports tournament organizer WePlay! Has announced a VALORANT tournament called WePlay! VALORANT Invitational featuring a total prize pool of $50,000. The invitational which is officially a part of the Ignition Series will witness a total of eight teams competing in the tournament which is scheduled to take place from 15th - 19th July.

Participating Teams

Another VALORANT invitational has been announced this time by Ukrainian tournament organizer WePlay! featuring a total of eight teams, six of which are directly invited for the tournament while the remaining two slots are up for grabs via open qualifiers.

The direct invites for the tournament are as follows,

Other teams hoping to compete in the tournament can do so by playing the open qualifiers scheduled to take place from 13th -14th July. Two open qualifiers will take place, one each on the 13th and 14th with the winners qualifying for the main event.

Tournament Format

The two open qualifiers will be following a single-elimination bracket with a best-of-one match up. The finals of the two qualifiers will be an exception though and will be played out as a three-game series.

The main event, on the other hand, will be featuring a Swiss format group stage scheduled to take place from 15th - 17th July. The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs where they will go up against each other in a single-elimination bracket. All the matches played in the main event will be a best-of-three series.

Prize Pool Distribution

The $50,000 prize pool will only be divided between the teams that qualify for the playoffs of the tournament. The division of the prize money is as follows,

VALORANT seems to be attracting a lot of tournament organizers since the release of its Ignition Series. The foundation laid by the developers themselves in collaboration with players, teams, content creators, and organizers has paved the way for multiple small tournaments to take place all around the world.

Joe Ziegler, Game Director at Riot Games says that,

“The IGNITION SERIES is definitely setting up a standard of play for VALORANT, the likes of which we've never seen before, and will undoubtedly begin to influence competitive audiences in their decisions around play.”

G2 Esports and Ninjas in Pyjamas are the two big teams entering the tournament. G2 Esports will soon be seen in action at the Vitality European Open which is part of the Ignition Series, their performance in this tournament will give everyone a glimpse of how strong they are. 

On the other hand, Ninjas in Pyjamas will be entering the tournament with a renewed roster which is still three players short. Let’s see how the invitational plays out considering all the invited teams are more or less on the same playing field.
