Dreamhack Festival Updates: Events Postponed, Moved Online

  • Dreamhack events for Summer, Dallas, Valencia and Montreal postponed
  • CS: GO Events moved online with an additional day for matches
  • Finals for NLC moved to Monster Energy DreamHack Studio

Dreamhack announced the postponement of four upcoming events including DreamHack Summer, DreamHack Dallas, DreamHack Valencia, and DreamHack Montreal. These events have now been moved to 2021. Owing to the Covid-19 quarantine measures, other DreamHack events have been moved online. While its many winter tournaments are to go as scheduled.

The following events aren’t postponed yet:

DreamHack Rotterdam — 16th - 18th October 2020

DreamHack Hyderabad — 30th October - 1st November 2020

DreamHack Atlanta — 13th - 15th November 2020

DreamHack Winter —  27th - 29th November 2020

DreamHack Madrid — 11th -13th December 2020

All the CS: GO events happening at Valencia, Montreal and Hyderabad have been moved online under the name DreamHack Open Summer. All the tournaments will still offer a $100,000 prize pool, and an additional day of matches to ensure all matches are played in a best-of-three format without any hiccups. 

The finals of the inaugural season of Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC) was meant to take place during Dreamhack Summer. However, it will now be moved to Monster Energy DreamHack Studio in Stockholm, Sweden.

DreamHack Co-CEO Marcus Lindmark said, “The goal for all of us at DreamHack is to provide great experiences at our events, which thrive by bringing communities together for these shared and beloved festival weekends all around the globe,”. He also lamented that this wasn’t an easy decision for them, saying “We have never had to postpone events like this before — but these are extraordinary times, and the safety of our staff and attendees has never been more important than now.” DreamHack says it will continue to monitor the Covid-19 situation and will share any other changes to an online format.
