Forge Mode is coming later this year along with new weapons, maps, and other content.
Halo Esports and Viewership Lead at Microsoft/343 Industries Tahir “Tashi” Hasandjekic said on Twitter that there is a lot to be excited for.
The game launched with a lot of hype and anticipation behind it but the multiplayer has lost over 90% of its playerbase on Steam over the past eight months.

Halo is one of the most iconic first person shooters (FPS) and esports wouldn’t be the same if titles like the original Halo, Starcraft and Street Fighter did not exist. The Halo franchise has been around for two decades and millions of players were excited to try out Halo Infinite’s multiplayer but it did not turn out as expected. From a lack of innovation to poor monetization practices, there were a lot of pain points that 343 Industries has struggled to address. But the developers are not willing to let the game die out and have plans to breathe life back into the game.

Halo Developer Says There is “Lots to Be Excited For”

Jack “CouRage” Dunlop, who is 100 Thieves’ co-owner and one of the biggest content creators in the FPS genre, said on Twitter that the gameplay of Halo Infinite was fun but had nothing. CouRage added that Halo was his favorite game series of all time and that Halo Infinite was poorly handled.

But not everything about Halo Infinite was bad according to CouRage. He mentioned that the “gameplay was fun, the esports support off launch was best in class, and I enjoyed playing ranked. But, everything else was a downgrade or gutted from what made Halo…Halo.”

Forge is one of the modes that was heavily advertised by 343 Industries and is not even out yet with over eight months having passed since Halo Infinite’s release. Co-op isn’t in the single-player mode either which is a shocker as millions of Halo fans grew up playing Halo co-op with their friends or family members.

The Forge Mode is expected to arrive in winter and split-screen co-op has been scrapped. The game’s esports circuit does not get enough attention from fans despite 343 industries investing a lot of resources to keep it running. With over 90% of its population quitting the game on Steam, things are not looking too bright for Halo Infinite.

However, Halo Esports and Viewership Lead at Microsoft/343 Industries Tahir “Tashi” Hasandjekic revealed that, “I think Forge is going to change the game forever - more maps, modes, weapons, equipment coming. We are sharing more real soon, lots to be excited for - we gotta deliver.”

With winter approaching quickly, the developers will need to get things right as we are dangerously close to the one year mark since Halo Infinite’s release. Halo desperately needs to get the attention of its fans with the right gameplay changes, or else it is possible that one of the most storied video game franchises of all time might die out.
