Notably, of the ten players, five of them are from 2022 Spring Split winners T1.

The Korea Esports Association (KeSPA) on 14th April unveiled the candidates for Korea’s League of Legends (LoL) Team who will be competing in the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. The preliminary roster will be joining Team Korea’s League of Legends head coach Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun, who is also currently the Athletic Director for Damwon Kia (DK).

The preliminary roster includes the following players:

  • Top: Kim "Kiin" Gi-in (Kwangdong Freecs) and Choi "Zeus" Woo-je (T1)

The ten shortlisted players shall be evaluated in the coming months, and six of these candidates – five starting members and a substitute player – will be joining Korea's LoL Team.

Korea's LoL Team: Preliminary roster includes all T1 players

After ending the Spring Split with a perfect run and lifting the trophy, T1 is all set to represent Korea at the Mid-Season Invitational next month. Given how strong the team is performing currently, it is unsurprising that all the T1 players were included in the preliminary roster shortlisted by the KeSPA.

A report by Inven Global stated that all the ten players will be evaluated under eight different categories including “match operation capability, team contribution, player potential & prospect, international experience, sense of nationality & duty, individual achievement within the past 3 months/split, standings in the regional qualifiers, and their level of contribution to Korean esports.

Additionally, a report by Naver said, “For the final selection of the national team, players from the LoL reserve list will participate in the call-up training and national team evaluation that will be held in Gwangju from the 17th (Sun). The LoL national team evaluation match will be held at the Gwangju Esports Stadium (Gwangju Dong-gu) for two days on the 22nd and 23rd and will test the national team's strength against overseas teams.” The details related to the relay and viewing of the evaluation will be announced later through KeSPA’s social media.

The 2022 Asian Games is scheduled between 10th - 25th September and esports will be a medal event. Some of the esports titles featured this year include Arena of Valor, Dota 2, FIFA, Hearthstone, League of Legends, PUBG Mobile, and Street Fighter V.
