Highlights
Rebirth Island is currently unplayable in Warzone 2.0.
The smaller maps may return to Warzone 2.0 in the future but there is no official word yet.
The previous iteration of Warzone only has the Pacific Caldera map and Resurgence has been removed.

Warzone 2.0 launched with the new Al-Mazrah map but the game has taken away the smaller maps with the Resurgence mode and this has left a part of the community upset. Rebirth Island is a map based on the Alcatraz Prison and was one of the most iconic parts of the previous iteration of Warzone and it is missing in the new version of the game. The mode is currently unavailable, but there might be some good news in the coming months.

When will Rebirth Island return to Warzone?

Currently, there has been no official announcement with regards to when Rebirth Island will return to Warzone 2.0. We don’t know if the map will come to Warzone 2.0 at all. Rebirth Island was one of the best maps to farm weapon levels. Right now, the best source of weapon XP is the new DMZ mode.

Warzone 1 has been turned into Warzone Caldera so even if you download the old version of the game, you will not get access to any map except Pacific Caldera. Both Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep have been removed from the game and if you loved the smaller maps, you are in hard luck.

Activision has not revealed any plans to restore the old maps in Warzone 2.0 but considering how popular the Resurgence mode was, it is possible that we will see Fortune’s Keep and Rebirth Island get added to the game. If you loved Resurgence for weapon XP farming, we recommend playing DMZ and try your best to not lose the weapon you are trying to level up if you want to extract with the most XP possible. You can also play the Shoothouse mode in Modern Warfare 2 if you have purchased the game.

The earliest we can expect any news is during Season 2, which is set to kick off in February 2023. The current season is here to stay for three more months, after which we can expect to see some brand-new content get added to the game. There will also be some mini-events that take place along the way during the Holiday season and possibly in the Chinese New Year too.
