While the tournament is already underway, here is a look back at what went down during Valorant Champions 2022 and who lifted the coveted trophy.
Valorant Champions 2022 Winner - A recap
A lot of fans, both old and new, have been talking about Valorant Champions 2022, wondering which team lifted the trophy and took home the cash prize. The grand final of Valorant Champions 2022 ended with Brazil coming out on top as the dominant region. LOUD dominated the competition and did not drop a single map during the playoffs leading up to the grand finals.
The first map (Ascent) of the best-of-five grand finals last year kicked off with OpTic securing a 7-5 lead and the North American team looked confident in the matchup. But OpTic’s lead did not last very long as LOUD stayed in the fight and took the game all the way to a 15-13 scoreline.
The second map Bind was a completely different story. OpTic secured a quick 10-2 lead in the first half and the players finished things off in style with a 13-6 scoreline.
In the third map of Breeze, LOUD forced OpTic into overtime for the second time in the series and won an extremely tense 16-14 overtime game.
LOUD secured a hard-fought 7-5 lead in the first half of the fourth map after which the OpTic lineup collapsed completely. LOUD had a clean 6-0 second half during the final game and ended the series with a 3-1 scoreline.
The players who were on the LOUD team that lifted the trophy are as follows:
Bryan "pANcada" Luna
Gustavo "Sacy" Rossi
Matias “Saadhak” Delipetro
Erick "aspas" Santos
Felipe "Less" Basso
Notably, LOUD is also participating in Valorant Champions 2023, but this time under the Americas banner. On 6th August, the team went up against DRX from the Pacific league and lost the series with a 1-2 scoreline. While LOUD won on Lotus, the first map, it lost both Split and Ascent to the Korean squad.
LOUD will be taking on Team Liquid from the EMEA League next in the Elimination Match on 10th August. The loser of this series will be eliminated from contention and the former world champions have their backs up against the wall.
