What Is the Highest Rank in Valorant?

Valorant’s ranked mode can be a little tricky to understand with the community using the terms like ranked rating (RR) and matchmaking rating (MMR) interchangeably. You have to climb through the ranks and make it all the way to Radiant, which is the highest rank in the game. The system is fine-tuned to offer consistent performances and teamwork. Here is a breakdown of the ranked system in Valorant.

How Does Valorant’s Ranked Mode Work?

Even though Valorant’s MMR and Ranked Rating are used interchangeably by players, VALORANT uses a Match Making Rating system to target your performance skill level. MMR is a giant ladder, consisting of all players. If you win, you climb up and push others down. Alternatively, if you lose, you get pushed down by others. No two players can tie, or take up the same spot on the ladder.

MMR is a fairly fluid system that can potentially change substantially from game to game. The developers have kept this slightly decoupled from your visible rank and RR so they can make sure that you don’t experience wild swings in your rank or get instantly demoted after a promotion.

The ranks are: Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Immortal, and Radiant. With the exception of Radiant, each rank has three tiers. The higher the number, the better your rank. Your rank will play directly into your Act Rank over time.

• If your MMR is higher than your rank, you’ll gain more RR on wins than you lose on losses

• If your MMR is even with your rank, you’ll gain and lose closer amounts of RR for wins and losses

• If your MMR is lower than your rank, you’ll gain less RR on wins and lose more on losses

Even if you find yourself on a losing streak in Valorant, as long as you are playing well you will not de-rank quickly. Whenever you gain a new rank in Valorant you also get tier protection to prevent you from instantly de-ranking if you lose your next few matches.
