Scatter Mines are tactical equipment in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone. While the mines don’t deal significant damage upon detonating, they provide excellent utility. They are similar to Proximity Mines where they alert you to the enemy’s presence and will go off if a player gets too close to them. Here is everything you need to know about Scatter Mines in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone.
Everything you need to know about the Scatter Mine in MW3 and Warzone
According to the in-game description for Scatter Mines, “Throw a field of mines across a wide area that detonate when enemies come within range." Scatter Mines are a new addition to the Call of Duty franchise, added in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
How to unlock Scatter Mines in Modern Warfare 3
You can unlock Scatter Mines in MW3 by reaching Level 18 on the progression track. For regular players, this is quite easy since you’ll likely be grinding and completing challenges. Once unlocked, it can be accessed from the loadout menu under the Tactical Equipment section.
How to use Scatter Mines in Modern Warfare 3
Once you equip Scatter Mines, you can place them in narrow pathways, other bottlenecks, entrances, or flank routes. You can also place them behind you so players can’t sneak up on you which is useful if you like playing as a sniper. They will detonate if an enemy gets too close, giving you an early warning. While they don’t do much damage, they give you a hit marker, showing that enemies are close by. The hit marker is only displayed on your screens, not your tac-map. You must keep track of where you deployed the equipment to find the affected enemies. They are also great when placed near objectives you want to hold down like in the Search & Destroy game mode.
Pair Scatter Mines with the Demolition Vest to get maximum value out of it. Demolition Vest recharges Lethal and Tactical Equipment every 25 seconds. When equipped with Demolition Vest, you can also have an extra Lethal. The Demolition Vest can be unlocked for your loadout by reaching level 30 on the progression track.
Using Scatter Mines in Modern Warfare 3 will also help you complete the ‘3 operator hits with scatter mines’ challenge. These mines provide a good tactical advantage in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone.
